I havent been updating this thread much, but just wanted to let everyone know we are still working on the boat.

the bottom is pretty much done and ready to gel... filled a ton of chips and gouges and smoothed it out.

Since we are on hold with the gel until I can get some straight answers on how to lay the metalflake, we started working on the trailer....

sorry for the crappy cel phone pic, I forgot to bring my camera out to the other garage.

I went to the local ma and pa marine store near my house (Sunset Marine) and they had the rollers so I would assume that any marine shop would have them.

If you are gonna get rollers look into the polyurathane instead of the rubber. Its supposed to be non marking and last forever (just about).

I asked before I even searched.....i figured since i had not seen them around just browsing at many marine sites, they would be hard to find. I found a ton of them for cheap on ebay. Thanks for the polyurathane suggestion bluenun. I will probably go with those.

Overtons prices are a bit higher then the deals on ebay.

For us to not do the gel now and put it all back together ....? I dont even want to go there.

We have gotten this far, to turn our backs and run like that would only make more work down the road.

We started it - We will finish it.

I did manage to finally get the intake out yesterday.....i went to home depot and picked up a sledge hammer and 2 good wacks got it out. I will take pics tomorrow......we are working vigurously on the trailer and my game plan for the gelcoat is coming together. I ordered the lights for the trailer yesterday....and the rollers and winch will be ordered tomorrow...still shopping out the best deals.

Spent a few more hours last night working on the trailer. I am using an angle grinder with a wire wheel on it to strip off all the years of paint and rust then using primer over where i've been since its bare metal and will rust easily overnight.

I would say I have stripped a good 80% of it so far, these pictures were taken before last nights work. Also, pictures of the hull all patched up, sanded, and ready for gel.

finished stripping off the paint on the whole trailer and primered it...now just need to do the small parts like the bung mounts, wench stand, etc.

Picking up some diamond plate tomorrow from lowes and more cans of rattle can paint.....yes, the entire trailer will be rattle can'd  8)

Ordered keel rollers, whench, and bearing buddies, seals, bearing kits and bearing buddy bra's yesterday.

Also, the gelcoat logic is starting to get clearer....might take a shot at the gel on some practice plywood in a couple of weeks....still need to order it though....and the stuff isnt cheap.....just over $500 in materials....and that doesnt include flake....im being told i will need 3-4lbs of flake at $60/lb  :o

Heres a pic of the trailer....and 2 pictures of the wriedt in its prime....the one picture is kyles grandfather "Uncle Vern" / "Grampa Vern" and his oldest sister Kristen.....pics were taken around '79.

we finished sanding and primering everything and started on the paint last night....after i put the first coat on and stepped back to look at it....it was at that point i am finally starting to see this thing come together.....trailer looks almost brand new. I hope the rollers, bearings, and the rest of the lights (long story) come in today so we can slap this trailer back together this weekend.

I also cut the wood for the bunks and drilled them for the bolts (counter sunk) and put an oil based sealer on them to get some extra life out of them.

...more later...

So.....You getting a little lazy?  ;D

no, just havent updated.

The paint on the trailer is done....bearings are done.....just needs to get the wiring done and cut/mount the diamond plate for the steps.

Canceld the order for the rollers and winch...after 2 weeks and no parts, I emailed them asking where the F are my parts. They said that the parts were on backorder and had no idea when they would come in. ....thanks for the update.  ::)

so besides trailerpartsdepot.com (see above paragraph)  ...any suggestions on where I can get trailer parts for cheap? (rollers and winch)....overtons is a bit pricey.

I got a chance to go to the new Bass Pro Shop in Rancho Cucamonga Sunday night (friends and family night), they have a pretty good section of boat trailer accessories along with all kinds of outdoor stuff.  Might be worth a call to find out when the grand opening is going to be.

Go with the stainless , They're only a grand ."  :o I said "What ? "  :-\ "Yeah go with the staianless , if they get scuffed or scratched you can just have them buffed out ."  ??? " Well then , since you put it like that . Sure what the hell it only a grand !" ::) What the fuk do I know .
