Flapper drains
« on: June 11, 2007, 09:58:49 PM »
I have water in the back of my Hallett from the last time it rained (I got cought with my pants down) The water that collects in the bilge is no giggy but the water that collected on the outsides of my stringers is just sitting with nowhere to go . There were no holes drilled in the stringer to let the water through. I was thinkin about putting some flapper drains on either side of the stringers for another reason as well. I do alot of swimming at the river and I have to get in the back so I'm always jumping in sopping wet.

So what do you guys think . Flappers  8) or drill holes in my stringers  :o

I just set the tongue of the trailer down on the ground, all the water runs to the front, then when I raise it back up the floor drain is in the center and it all goes into the bildge.  Dont know if thats an option for you or not ???

drill the stringers and put either resin or exopy around the hole with your finger. Thats what I did.

Im very leary about drilling a hole in a perfectly good stringer . I'm probably going the have to do this though .  :'(

From the front of my engine cover , back . The floor is loose as if there was a bench across the back before . With the mill I'm dreaming together . I might end up with that cofiguration .

double check the stringers very close to the bottom near the back.  I had the same problem with the sides filling with water (damn wake boats) and was going to drill the stringers but found the Hondo already had 2 small holes (1/4" maybe) on both stringer that had plugged with sand and debris.  Took a piece of coat hanger and ran through all the holes.

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Damn, how do i get out of the quote? Mine has one inch holes and still collects water on the sides. Ok, got out of the quote. Swimming? Get a dog to retreive the ducks for you and you wont have to drive into the marsh either.
