« Reply #225 on: January 07, 2013, 09:29:36 PM »
This is great news Ralph. Some of my best memories from early SCJB days are when you and Omar were out in the water gettin it done. Now all we need to do is get him and Ron back out there......

well im stuck :'( measured the crank
crank/ clearance
2.9890/.0021
29885/.0023
2.9885/.0031
2.9886/.0022
2.9900/.0015
so as you can see i need a .010x bearing, called the supplier unto witch called king bearing the only manufacturer of such bearing and they don't have any in stock and wont be making a run until the end of next month :banghead: :banghead: so i ordered them and now i wait.. searched web and jegs says they have them and will ship out on the 21st of this month, oooo yipee im happy now right? well knowing what i know i call jegs and ask them how they intend on getting said bearings :o the nice man on the phone says we will just get them direct from king, i laugh :D and told him they are back ordered until end of next month and their site is wrong >:( he tells me thats really not likely. I proceed to tell him to get me the bearings then, he then says hold on while he calls king bearing, i say they are closed because of they are in new jersy and the time difference between here and there. he insist that he call any way (wtf) ok ill play along ::)  he comes back on and says they are closed :screwy: took my number and said would call me tomorrow with an answer...

aint this fun 8) on the brighter side got the msd ignition and the heads and cam should be done in 2 weeks. wont have any bearings but i'll have a bunch of other stuff to look at...

I was gonna start by moving some of the bearings around to see if we could find the loosest one, then make necessary adjustments from there.  Do all the crank journals mike the same?  What does the bearing you've got setup with the largest clearance look like on the tight main?

I've got a cam bearing tool also, and 400 stones for my hone.  Lemme know when you want 'em

So...the crank grew or the holes on the block shrunk?  Generally it works the other way around.  How'd that happen?

Has the block had the mains worked on (honed or bored)?  I've seen more shlock main bore work than good before....(reason why I refuse to use a block on my own stuff if the original mains aren't acceptable) but you would've caught that on the last assembly if you measured everything like you're doing this time.
