it wont take too long once i get it back, the big delima now is rail kit or 4 point, i'd like to do a rail kit but the motor plates are'nt cheap and i have a couple of 4 point set ups

Yeah i know nothing's cheap

The 4 points are on my need to buy list along with ALOT more. But i will get it done by next summer

Although admittedly a little spendy the rail kits the hands down winner for ease of install IMO we use them all, 3s, 4s and R/kits Tom

i cant see the pics at work so by the price i will asume that its a lightning, and a verry nice peice but on things i can make/do i am cheap so, i will probably use the 4 point. unless i can find the motor plates cheap because they are a bitch to make

Ralph, Boats lookin really good !! Nice work by your guy Re the motor rail, 10 4 I'm all about making it yourself if you got the stuff and the where with all ,your old Hondo and Kreg boat and for that matter the place craft project are largerly made up of uses ,scrounged and "made up pieces" Keep up the good work Tom

PS this Big Ford I got this weekend has killer front and rear plates (i'll make a pattern)

tom i have the rails for a rail kit, but need the plates. lets see yours, i would like to see if they are patterned different than the ones i got

I would think that if one was going to trace these plates, some changes would be in order. I would think that the sharp corners on the front plate would create stress risers. Wouldn't it be better to radius the corners? Also, I would think that the plate would benefit from a much larger surface area similar to that of the lightning plate. Just seems like a small plate for these torquey motors.

Definetly add a little beef into it, good Idea on the corners. I think the rear one could use a little more above the rail mounts too, looks like it was cut down.

I suppose in the end the front mount only has to be as stong as it 5/16" bolts and spacers holding it on

. My favorite BBF front mounts are the ones that include the water inlet plate, might have to make one one of these days.
