2sav i cant afford to flow coat and its a family boat not a show boat. I just need to get it on the water :'(
anyway i made some more progress today here are the pics
re-painted the motor, i just couldn't do the blue

my buddie leonard came out and handled the sub floor, carpet and the bildge

sub floor in, as you can see i had to notch the small bulk head to clear the pulley on the motor, i cried when i was cutting it :'(  :'(  :'( oh well you cant see it when the interior is in

prepping the bildge for the herculiner

this stuff goes in nice and it oil and gas resistant

when you do a rail kit on a ford you cant use the factory bolt hole for the alternator so you have to fab a bracket. Pops doing his thing

i dont know what i would do with out him

carpet is done, i still need to finish up the front bulkhead but, this one will work for know. i need to get on the water, i have no more patience

i still have to break the motor in, water and fuel lines, mount the battery, toss the interior in and get my pump back from jim brock. so a couple of more weekends and i'll be on the water.

Just a piece of advise . When notching wood layout your width and heighth . At the inside corners of your notch , try and use the biggest radius you can get in there by drilling out holes first . Wood likes to find a sharp point at which to break . Kind of like metal .
I would think that if one was going to trace these plates, some changes would be in order. I would think that the sharp corners on the front plate would create stress risers. Wouldn't it be better to radius the corners? Also, I would think that the plate would benefit from a much larger surface area similar to that of the lightning plate. Just seems like a small plate for these torquey motors. :o my.o2
Since the wood in ralph's bulkhead isnt taking a load from underneath , I dont think it's a big deal .

If you look at the stringer where it meets the transome you can see where the inside corner is rounded off as well as all the other edges . Every little bit helps I think .

not too much progress this weekend, taxes yesterday and easter today.
but we did get the battery box done and the steering wheel

first we trimmed the rail down

then countersunk the bolts so they dont hit the battery, this is 3x4 aluminum

cant afford a new battery box so we used an old beat up one. drilled and countersunk these holes as well

the bolts are not tight so they are stick up some

i think we will just trim the back to match the front for now, cause it's fugley

got the steering wheel on, it looks ok but the bezel i got is not big enough to cover the hole so im stuck with the black one for now

next weekend i get the pump back and the real thrashing will start :banghead:

no, we put it in there to make sure it cleared the battery mount he made ...which it did clear beautifully and i will be stealing his idea  >:D

just to give you an idea how things are done at brunt racing....we pulled the motor, replaced the oil pump (ralph can elaborate more later) and had it back in the boat in about an hour.....including an interuption by some guys who came by to buy the ATC's and wanted to haggle on the price. lets just say they drove from hemet for nothin....left empty handed.

tomorrow we will be thrashing on my boat, once again.

last year i had this motor in the hondo, we were at the avi and i sheard a dizzy gear roll pin, i figured no biggy, i'll just replace it. welllllll, brad went to prime the oil pump in the motor and it wont turn ding, ding ding, (the light goes on) now i know why the roll pin sheard off the dizzy :banghead: so out comes the motor (again :banghead:) we are really good at this now :-\. remove the pan take the pump apart and WHAMO there is a peice of metal so small that has the rotors locked up. i have no idea where it came from :banghead: looks like a small piece of mig welding wire just smaller. oh-well i got a spare pump so we cleaned the pan and back together it goes. some may say tear down the hole motor, and, yes if it was my race motor you better believe i would have, but this one, no way. so we got it all back together and primed the pump, 80psi on the stand. back in it goes.

thank you brad for all your help yesterday, now, lets get these race boats ready to go

well i was going to start on my cav plates for the hornet, then, i saw this

decided nope, i am working on the lake boat, i need to be on the lake DAMMIT. so then i ran down to sweet performance and picked up some odds and end i needed

and put my self to work with the water and fuel lines

things still need to be cleaned up but i needed to break in the camshaft :banghead: now the drama begins >:( went to fire it up and POP,BANG, BOOM. yup the timing is not right. so i pull the dizzy cap and look yup its on #1 and tdc,#1 piston is up WTF :banghead: so my dumb ass pulls the dizzy out figuring its gotta be 180 out. DAMN were is pop when i need him? at the store of course >:( i get it all set back in and pops gets home, so i tell him whats going on and he says start it. NOPE NADDA, NOTHING. He procedes (sp)to check the firing order and its all f-up :banghead: this thing was in brads boat so it was wired for his motor. so we re do the firing order and set the dizzy back to tdc and WHAMO it fires right up, but, no oil pressure :o WTF we know this thing had 80psi when we primed it. oh yeah remember the dizzy was out. So out it comes again and sure enough the oil pump shaft fell out :banghead:  so i get a magnet and go fishing and after about 15 minutes of dicking with it, i finally get it. We fire it back up and oh yeah 80psi heres a vid clip
http://youtube.com/watch?v=C_PiRXtDFDE
none of the guages on the dash work, but, why would they? :banghead: it wants new guages  so im banging on the tach and break the f-ing glass, oh-well it will get new ones now :-[
after about 10 min it still had good oil press
http://youtube.com/watch?v=8SswMRdqQF4
but i'm nervous as a whore in church. man i hate breaking in camshafts. well the motor made the 20 min dead line and didnt kill it self so i am a very happy man. I will be working on it more tomorrow getting things ready for my interior.
