well, i was there for about 30 min....45min tops and left. Thanks to everyone who came out to support and I am sorry for not getting to talk to many of you. We had to rush to the ER (Brunt Racing) get the patient (Raspberry) back on the operating table.
First off - the steering was backwards - in the mess of the rush to get this thing ready, i didnt even look to see if the damn thing was put on right. So I said screw it and was going to at least get this damn boat on a plane - I deserved that, safe or not.
The boat didnt even make it out of the no wake zone and the damn thing died.
First thing we thought was that it was flooded....but then noticed there was no fuel pressure....or spark....so we assumed it was the pin on the distributor.....but that was fine when we pulled it.....then we noticed the cam wasnt spinning....so we assumed it was a cam pin.
pulled the timing cover to find this....
timing chain and gears completely destroyed...we figured it was the POS edlebrock shit we used....so we had to pull the oil pan to sift out all the metal from the timing chain and gear that had fallen into the pan. After we drained the oil and pulled the pan....i found this...
....the fuel pump arm broke off and went into the timing chain...causing it to granade.....it was a 4 day old clay smith fuel pump. I am going to swing by clay smith tomorrow and see if they have any ideas as to what caused this and get a replacement.
We ripped it apart, cleaned it up, and put it back together.....in about 5 hours.
