Title: Reid's motor pulling adventure...
Post by: LBsuperjet on December 24, 2007, 05:02:07 PM
Alright guys, finally got that biatch out today!, after a nice little 'free beer morning' at Joe Jost's (hey, i needed some fuel lol) A friend and I did it in my storage in hawaiian gardens, and it actually went quite smoothly, unhooked everything, and rolled the boat out, and pulled my truck under it and tied her up real nice and off we went!...I also took the boat home w/ me today to take some pics of both...here they are:

just an idea....you might want to check, double check, triple check, etc to make sure the jackoffs who stole your shit didnt drop anything (nuts, bolts, etc) into the motor.

anyways...looks good....keep at it...get it back on the water pronto  ;)

What's your plan?

whats up dude? the plan is to finish the motor after what was stolen...intake on up, put back in, enjoy for a couple more years, then i dont know after that...i just figured it would be MUCH EASIER to complete the motor when its out of the boat, rather than ruin the gelcoat w/ getting in and out of the thing many times, plus, this gives me an oppurtunity to do a lil pump work ;) like drill all 4 holes through and install a new loader grate...anyone know how to do this? or is it pretty straight forward? drill thru and install long enough bolts/nuts then grind off the excess for the oil pan right? i sure hope it will be that easy...let me know! thanx,

REID

You shouldn't have to drill through unless the old bolts won't come out or the heads are broken. I'd keep the standard threads or re-tap larger if you have to, then double nut on the interior side. Grind off excess bolt length or get lucky and buy the right size... stainless of course.

nice, yeah theres only 3 holding it in right now, cuz i stripped one last year getting it off to take the piece of GRANITE out of the impellar, and had to drill through the whole screw. so now i think i will have to drill through all four, and get the right size and double nut...thanx for the advice bud!

Right on. You're one of the few with a complete Aggressor... I'm kinda surprised you landed one 4 years ago. Dave was real limited back then.

Possibly it was coated so the plugged the threads? Try poking at them with a screw driver

Well was it coated at a powder shop? Because I was just guessing that's what they were
Title: Re: Reid's motor pulling adventure...

yeah embee in santa ana...but it was a wet ceramic coat, not a dry powder application like powdercoat.

Pull them out with needlenose then, they should hurt anything, most of the time they are just rubber

Or put a tap in there with a little oil, that will clean them perfectly

The intake isnt on the engine is it? Just get something small enough to push them through. Maybe I'm missing something...
