Paul Thought that with that much steering column and that much leverage on the small base of the Calgo post it needed something ,it stiffened the dash a lot.  After Long Beach I  re -realized how fragile these old boats could be  Tom

Tom I have not forgot.Thanx.
The curved motormounts...if ya need some let me know Dim. to stringer. I already have programs for BBC and SBC race car motor plates. It would be easy to do.

I would look into a different method of strengthening the dash. That setup would make me REAL nervous. The last thing you want is getting tangled up in hardware when being pitched from the boat. Even a stringer mount cav plate handle makes me nervous....or even a place diverter handle (as long as they are) between the legs? forget it!  :o

dont get me wrong, i like the ingenuity, but the safety aspect should be looked at as well.

If my boat had a steering brace like that I would have broke my leg when I flew out of the boat in Long Beach.

Not a good idea IMO.
