Whats up guys im new to this site so i figured id throw up my project im working on. Last summer i bought a 73 southwind that wasn't in bad shape. Hardin Marine built 455 with only 20 hours on it with a full roller rocker setup. The gel was in decent shape was able to make it shine and the upholstery was ok, few minor tears. I cracked that hull at Lake Elsinore at the end of the season so i started searching for another hull/. I actually managed to find the same exact thing back in January that was completely stripped. So Ive been prepping it and today i bought my paint and building the paint booth. This is my first restoration on a boat so hope all go well. If you guys have any suggestions along the way about anything it would help forsure. Ill get some pics up later to check out.

Welcome to SCJB ;D
We like pics
The only issue I have is requarding the Olds. The Olds is a good engine for mild performance usage, but if you have any dreams of pushing the performance levels you really should consider a Chevy, Ford or even a Chrysler.
I'm sure someone will chime in and say that the Olds is a great engine and yada, yada, yada ;)

Yes I def agree with you. I have a chevy motor in the garage but this olds motor is new and reliable for now. Later on once I get it running smooth maybe ill swap in the off season. Thanks for your input.

What was your new hull rigged with originally?

The guy I bought thhull from said it had a 455 olds in it with a berkley jg in it. So it would be a direct swap over from the old hull to new.

the only advice i can give you is to post more pictures. i <3 build threads.

Get a free photo bucket or image shack account. These both break down the codes for your pics to be used on/in any place. Photo code for scjb is img code....copy paste and image is forum. I like photo better but make sure you set your account to private before saving any images to your account or anyone may go into your account.
