Cut out floor and 1/4 stringers. I've been grinding for days. Hope to get boat off trailer and start full length stringers this week.

Couldn't tell ya how many hours I've got into my spectra 18... But always seem to get whatever project done to it for the season... good luck with yours and keep this thread alive.

Stringers glassed in and floors. also bulkheads. slowly coming along.

I could of left them full height but the floors would have got in the way of my tanks. I kind of like my floors being lower. It was a quarter stringer before with no floor so should be stronger.

getting interior upholstered . trying to decide on color scheme. I am leaning towards number 3 or all white with yellow piping. Any feed back would be great thanks.

Engine back in and buttoned up and running. Thanks to greg and scott at GS MARINE. I couldn't bring myself to drill the holes in the new stringers i placed. never set a motor before. The rigging is coming out clean. Interior should be done soon.

thanks. thats not orange its a lighter brown. crayon . i think its going to be all white with yellow piping.

It has been my experience that the hull is so thick and strong in the quarter stringer boats that full stringers are really unnecessary and just add weight. Did someone convince you differently?

I think power and purpose have a lot to do with construction.
Spectra also built 4 stringer marathon boats.
I don't see a 2-300 hp family cruiser needing full length stringers though it does make them pretty solid.

My Spectra 20 with an engine box handled chop better than my 23 ft. daycruiser even with the added benefit of a diverter. Those Spectras are just bad ass builds.

Thanks for the responses good or bad. It has been a lot of work . Everyone has their opinions on the full length stringer thing. I figured if i was going to do it might as well go for it. Maybe a little heavier but hopefully stronger. I've had full stringer boats before and this 1/4 stringer rode nice but had a lot of flex in my feet gas pedal. I fell like i have accomplished a lot . and just look forward to taking the family out and having some fun. hopefully i can make it out to one of your guys meets. ONLY person i know from the boards is Hallet Dave. Thanks FAMILY TRADITION!

I'm curious to know if you considered 86ing the jumper seats and going with a sundeck/engine cover or at least a bench back seat? I've never been a real fan of the factory lay out.

GlassCutter, let the man build the boat the way he feels it will suit his needs and maintain some originality. Different strokes for different folks.
I still have the original rear jump seats in my Hallett and I love the look and so does Nick Barron. Nick has seen my Hallett in person and loves the engine cover modification and loves the fact that that I for the most part kept some originality in the boat.
If Greg (GS Marine) put his stamp of approval on the stringer work that Zack did, that is good enough for me.
Zack, It was great talking to you tonight. You have done a great job and I look forward to seeing you and the boat in person.

So what are you running these days?
Would you care to run the 23 ft. Daycruiser or the 20 ft. Spectra against my over stringered Hallett mild BBC Mini Cruiser with original seating? I'm game for most anything. ;)

FAMILY TRADITION did you take the boat off the trailer to do the stringers? what did you use to do so? did you build a dolly once you removed the trailer? I just found my new project going in this direction so I'm looking for detail on replacing the stringers.

Yes I took boat off the trailer. Used large a frame with electric hoist. I built padded deals for rear of boat and up front to sit on. It sat a couple inches off the ground. If your going a spectra 20 you can use those to sit yours on. I'm in bellflower if you would like to borrow them.

I'm working on a Hallett 21' cruiser so I think the shape is a bit different. Do you have pics of this dolly?

I was just asking an honest question as I might be doing the interior in the future exactly like his layout wise. But your right, subjects are for chicks. And you should see the look on their faces when they see the queen size bed and disco ball hanging below the faux fur covered ceiling. So yeah, a sundecks for the ladies works great for me and my wife's friends.
And I gotta agree that Eddie's guys do a great job. This Spectra is really looking sharp.
