Well i am starting to do my rebuild finally and i thought i would share with you guys the beginning to the end ;D Just kidding i know it dont end. This boat is my father in laws project that he dropped off for me to do. What a nice guy he is ;D.
Well as you can see from the pics i got my hands full :( So any and all advice is appreciated. I think i will start by stripping the boat and carpet so i can scrub it all out real good and see what the glass and wood looks like. i know i have to fix the rear all ready, i will start that tomorrow. today is wash day, I am glad i got one of them high pressure sprayers makes it so much easier to clean off stubborn grease and stuff.
then i will do the pump ;D
I had to put my boat on hold so i can get this one out of my drive way.

My personal opinion is that there is a ton of resin on there . The fact that the intake is about flush with the bottom tells me that . Maybe it's got a steep V and that could do it also but the enormous puddle of resin makes me think other wise . Chip that shit out so you can see what your really workin with .

And yes its pure resin i started chipping it off this morning. I will post pics as i go along, so if i am screwing something up you can tell me

I took another look, both heads are trashed. But you are welcome to come by anytime ;D I do have a project or two going on.

Cleaned it up enough atleast to get the grinder in there and see whats going on. Found some more engine parts ;D Looks like i need to repair/replace the front seat mounts. Yep im just getting started.

Yes its gonna be alot of work, but i do have until next summer to get the two boats in the water :o
Atleast i get off work about 10 am every day so i gots plenty of time to work on them.

The Holms family used to race there jet hulls in ski jet and comp jet. Now it does take a bit of work to make them act and perform the way most people want them to.
I would like to stop by and take a look at it if you don't mind.

The hull is in good shape in the area of the posted pic. Someone gelcoated the bilge, it looks as if they poured it in. Steve ground down to the fiberglass and it looks OK. He will put a couple coats of resin on it to seal it and finish his clean up.
Holly Hell that boat is wide, 2 BBFs would fit in the middle of the boat side by side.

Well like Jim said, were making progress. Got down n dirty today with the grinder ;D Just a little more cleaning up and i can finish it off. Really wasnt as bad as i thought it would be, cleaned up nicely.
Now its time for a few beers and Ebay.
Thanks again Jim. That was way cool of you to stop by the house and give me some advice on which way to go. If you are going to be on the river tomorrow night let me know. I wanna see that boat in person since i can hear it from my house when your running it ;D At least now i know who it is.
And yes this sum bitch is a wide Mutha >:D More room for BEER.

Good Idea,
My dad past away a couple years ago after 10 years of breathing problems.
He had been an automotive and RV mechanic for years and was told his lung problems were "environmental emphysema" caused by the paint, glues and other cleaners he was in contact with for most of his life. Kind of sucks for someone who didn't smoke!

Thanks guy's im one up on ya ;D There is no way to do it otherwise, you cant breath and i allready have asthma ( just found out) I have my wife bring me home a bunch of masks from work. Well i got to get back out there and start striping some more glue off. Just found another crack in the floor. I wonder whats next? Maybe i will find some money ;D Ya right!

Well im thinking of pulling the gas tank out and just wanted to know. Do they just glass these at the rear or is it glassed all around?
And i spent another day scraping carpet off. But does not look like im making progress. BUT I AM ;D

Both the Rogers and the Miller that I had , both had twin saddle tanks and they were both glassed in at the bottom with two ~10" X ~10" pieces of fiberglass mat. The tops of the tanks were held in by the hose connecting to the fuel fill necks. When I got the Miller the tanks were out of it and I glassed them in the way I just mentioned. They never came loose but I only had it for a couple of months.

You got rid of the Miller? I think I'm going to like mine.... Sort of reminds me of a '23 "T" for the water! :D Even with a rag top!

of how I installed the gas tanks (about half way down the page). One spot towards the front of the tank and one spot towards the rear of the tank were glassed in using large squares of fiberglass mat and also a piece of wood moulding that I had laying around the house. Mat, moulding, mat is how it was layed.
Damn straight, jet boats are hot rods on the water. ;D

OK its out Thanks Rod. That was easy money ;D Now what do you use to flush it out? i filled it with water and it dont look to dirty in there. And what do i use to seal the top where the float goes in. Its leaking there. Silicon? Well i have to put everything on hold now, the twins are having a birthday in a couple days so i gots to put a swing set together :o Cant get nothing done with so many side tracks going on ;D Chit!
I did get some new wood done, well i mean sealed its just set in there for now, and dont know if you can see the crack but look close, Its looong but i dont think its a big deal. I got plenty of resin and glass ;D
Well got to go play with a swing set. This is gonna be fun.

You're welcome, just stop blaming the twins because you want a swing set to play with. :D I flushed my gas tanks out with water, let them sit upside down in the sun for a few hours, and then sprayed a sh!tload of WD-40 in there. My tanks were steel and I'm sure the WD-40 was a waiste of time and resources. :P I wouldn't try to seal the gas gauge sending unit with silicone. New sending unit's come with a gasket, made of rubber if I remember correctly. Get some gasket material from Kragen or where ever and put a couple of paper gaskets in there, unless you have some rubber laying around, I dunno, say an old bicycle inner tube? ;D I can't see any cracks in your pictures and by the size of that off road tire in the first pic

You should be able to get a universal fuel gauge sending unit allmost anywhere, try your local Kragen/Chiefs/AutoZone, etc...

Well im glad i didnt cut out the intake cause its going back to Cali ;D Yes i will be free from the Platipuss ;D Christmas day its going away and GOOD RIDDENS. I spent the last two days puting this thing back together again Now im done and enjoying a nice cold one ;) Everyone say goodbye :o Woo Hoo >:D
