Hey everyone my name is Shaun. Been on the water for years, own a super charged Yamaha jet ski but have never owned a boat. We have a house in havasu but I live in Southern California. Just picked up this 1969 cee bee avenger 16 footer from the original owners. Engine is the mercury 115 tower of power. The boat is super basic and it fits in my single car garage by about 2 inches. My two kids ages 9 and 3 love it.

First thing I started with was pulled the two garboard drain screws because I could hear a little water in the hull. Water came out and it was clean. These two screws are below the normal drain plug. I would rather not have self tapping screws with silicon, what should I be using here instead?

Next I cleaned up the interior some. Has a cracked tachometer gauge. Already found replacement glass. The engine switch box has been rebuilt as well as the engine. He told me I needed to link and sync the timing/throttle. I did that yesterday. Engine has great spark. Going to replace one of the fuel lines and try to get it to run

That’s it for now. Any of you guys had an avenger boat? What are the thoughts? Is having an outboard boat on here frowned upon? Anyways thanks for looking. I’ll post progress as I go.

One more thing, what do you guys like to use to polish old gel coat?

With that shallow v, (can you say Flatbottom?) And low freeboard, It makes a better river boat than the big lakes like Havasu, especially on busy days.

Should be a lot of fun.

I know havasu gets very choppy when it’s busy. Times like that I’ll probably be in a protected cove or in or near the channel beaches and in the water
