Title: Tahiti on the rocks
Post by: jet boat performance on October 30, 2008, 10:11:13 AM
Finished a nice rebuild on this boat a few weeks back , the customer was excited and dumped it in the water that nite , but some how put it on the rocks , this will be an "unusual project" instead of switching out hard ware we'll be switchin' boats ... Tom

So why does he need a new hull??? Where's the damage to that hull?

What kind of pump is that? Is that a Panther Jet?

You guys are brutal ;) ,No Bill (the owner)  and two girlies were blasting down some small brackish body of water in the bay area and "Viola" apparently it didn't turn ? anyhow he bought a very nice 18 Eliminator Bubbledeck (no motor) from Quickjet (delivered week before last) Once we paint the motor and add some bling it'll be back in the drink" I affectionately have named the new boat "On the rocks"

My first real exposure to "duct tape" was at Ontario motor speed way (Drags) saw Grumpy Jenkins (my hero) Vega (hood up) the plug wires had The "silver magic tape" on them for some reason , my Buddy Greg said hmmmm 200 mph tape (we called it that for years !!

Different worlds different names.  I remember as a kid, one of the hydroplanes knocked a huge hole in one of the sponsons.  Mom and us kids were the supply team as we drove the station wagon to the closest lumberyard to buy a sheet of 1/8" panneling, a saw, and some 100mph tape.  Before the next heat they had the sponson patched back together with the 100mph tape covering almost the entire outter surface.  I guess if we had hydroplanes that could have done 200 I might have learned it as 200mph tape too.   I guess he must have really cracked the hull a lot more than just the nose to replace the whole boat and not just fix it.

Yup, I've got a running boat (GPSed 79 mph) but the wife finally told me how things were going to be for the next few months so it's stored for the winter.  I had to give in, I've still got all the cosmetics to do AND another boat to build.

I must have a problem ??? ??? ???, that boat, even with the 100 MPH tape is nicer than some I have brought home....gotta love the spring cleaning in November ;D

How much do they charge you to dispose of the old hull? I had to dice it up into bite size pieces to get rid of it, otherwise they wanted like $200.

You guys are both Men of Many Talents.   Promising up and coming film producers, sawsall swinging, knuckle busting, boat part hoarding all around good guys.  That video gave me a few laughs, showcased your increasing talent in the video production "booth" and made me wanna jump around and break things.   Well done guys!   Thanks for getting my Sunday morning started off right.
