Title: tearing it down now with pics
Post by: Ralph Brunt on January 27, 2007, 05:48:01 AM
as many of you know i'm trying to get ready for the race in march, well due to a heavy foot my motor let loose a couple of weeks ago. i'll be tearing the motor and pump out today to survey the damage, i'll try to post some pics tonight of my progress. I did'nt know what forum to put this in so feel free to move it to it's rightfull place.

well guys i found out why it spit a lash cap (rrrrrr) that f#cking comp cams specd me the wrong valve springs for my cam, hence the valve float and the lash cap coming off. so i said f-it and orderd a set of tfs aluminum heads  :o . this ford should run a lot better know ;D with the flow #s and my combo out of the box i should be getting about 650hp. now i'm worried that the A-cut impeller i'm putting in tomarrow isnt going to be big enough any thoughts.

Ralph , you seem to pretty much know what you are doing , have you ever had any problems with your msd box and your coil mounted too close togeather??? I was told by a couple of racers to make sure I mount them no closer then 16 inches of each other.

Thats an oil cooler........i need that. I have a flatty w/ a powerglide tranny in it, needs oil cooled. Our boats have a natural oil cooler, the pan sitting in water plus the 14 quart pan helps. Ralph or Rod, anybody got one of those settiing around?

FACT : Chroming of any cooler reduces it's cooling capacity by as much as 40% so always paint or coat your cooler for best results dont risk your engine life to a poorly constructed cooler , it's whats inside that counts - demand Hrdin Marine coolers.

That came out of the CP Performance catalog.

Yeah, I know. Fortunately mine is for sandbar appeal and the chrome won't make it run any hotter than without the cooler at all.
