Hey, Im sure this has been asked 100 times, but I searched and didnt really find an answer that I could use. I need to do some work to my trailer, and cant figure out how to get it out from under the boat. I dont have any ceiling beams to lift from, and I dont know anyone with an empty trailer to swamp the boat onto. I only have one cherry picker. Is that my best bet? Borrow one for the nose and then set the boat down on some tires?

Go to the lake, launch your boat. Tie it up to a dock or beach it. Work on the trailer, load the boat up. You're done. Bass lake should be slow this time of year.

Back the boat up to a tree, chain the boat to said tree, pull the pin and straps off the back, then pull away.
Viola! The boat is off the trailer! ::)

Now that is the kind of good advice that folks come to SCJB.com to get. Can't find that kinda help no where's nowadays. :thumbup:

This is how I did it: A frame on the front with some pipe through the front eyelet and a chery picker on the rear

this is how i did mine this morning with 3 guys ( four would be better ). i could of driven 45 minutes each way to Piru with two trucks and pay 20 bucks to get in and gas but i'm to cheap!

MUST BE DONE ON A FLAT CONCRETE OR DRIVEWAY.NOT IN THE STREET.

ok now thats out of the way.
REAR LIFT POINT - trailer picture 1
attach engine hoist to motor. ensure that when you lift the hull it is level left to right. make sure your stringers are in good shape!

floor jack. position a the V part of the hull. use something to protect your hull from the floor jack,( i used a rubber volley ball ) you will have to reposition the floor jack as you pull the trailer out.

the HULL is off of the trailer and steady

the jack repositioned and pulling the trailer out from under the hull as you pull the trailer out ,you can only go a foot or so because of cross members. jack the hull up pull the trailer out let the jack down and repeat. i had to reposition about four times.
once the trailer is free of the hull ( if i had a fourth guy he could of taken more pictures ;D) this is the most dangerous time so be careful!!
now you can support the hull with a dolly or a different trailer.( DO NOT LEAVE THE HULL SUSPENDED BY THE HOIST AND FLOOR JACK ALONE!!)

Thanks! I think I can get er now. How strong are the metal eyes in the front? Im a bit oakie and was wondering if I could lift the front end from a tree and the back with a cherry picker then just pull straight out? The jack idea will work if I have to, but the only place I can set the boat wont be pavement or concrete. I would launch in in basslake but I have a few days of work to do and dont trust some of these mountain tweakers.. Different breed of weirdo for sure.

I have lifted mine by the with my frontend loader with no problem good luck :thumbup:

ok, I just pulled the trailer from under it, getting it sandblasted tomorrow. Im thinking after I repaint the trailer and get everything together asking 4,500.. Hows that sound?
did you take any pics while you were removing the hull from the trailer? how did you do it?

Here's what I would do, were it me (And it has been).
Build 2 A-frames from 4x6's, and a 4x8 across the top wide enough to clear the trailer. Then hook up the bow eye on the boat to this A-Frame apparatus from both sides and lift it as far as you can, then lift the ass of the boat with a cherry picker like you were pulling the engine. More than strong enough to do it.
This is coming from a guy, who, back east, used to change engines with a backhoe! (True stories, I'll give you Dad's phone number if you doubt me).

I got it yesterday.. Id suggest atleast 2 people if you can find one. Me being currently out of work cause the weather.. did it while everyone I know was at work.. Losers. I used an old garage and used a chain comealong from the rafters for the front and lifted it from the ceiling. The rear was where I needed the extra eyes cause as I was pulling the trailer out the cherry picker was lifting in the rear and lowered the boat back to the trailer. Every 3 feet Id have to get out and roll the cherry picker forward. I was deff. cussing lifting my truck at the point. Thanks for the tips guys!
