I started using wd40 with wet sand instead of water....seems to help get the finish a little smoother before buffin...To get those deep scratches or just really bad finish, I run a die grinder with green pad first.

I started with 400 to get the deep scratches out, then 800, 1000, 2000. I used jewelers rouge, and green polish on a polishing wheel.

Yeah my logs are next!!  Lol
