Furnace/AC blew up........Gotta go..........
« on: December 20, 2011, 01:50:42 AM »
Well, my kids, and Mom, now that we moved her in out here after pops died, hafta stay warm.......and cool next year.......sooooo......my heat pump went out last week, and the air handler is on it's last leg as well. Yes, GT, I had 5 pros look at it. They're amazed it was working up through last week for a 25 year unit with pretty little service. Kinda knew it was coming, but figured I had a couple more years out of it. so I might be outta boats for awhile. I'll be calling in substantial "loans" I've made as well. Damn! I thought what WE did was expensive!!!

Anyway, anything and everything you see in this pic or background is for sale, or anything you KNOW ot have reason to know that I have (Like the Kuhl Dommy  Blower Adaptors)..........Yes even the Mooneyham 10-71!!!!.........I think I'm gonna go cry now......

My Twin Jet 26' Sleek also, with nearly all the original parts in bins everywhere, including the Teak swim deck built better than any "back East" house deck I ever saw.....2 rebuilt 12 JG's, too much to get into as well, make offers. Yes, I will include the special intakes AND custom loaders I paid $500 to have made for them.

My "fugly" 18' Hallett........also available........good boat for the right project

My 18' Saguaro........probably a better start of a project than the Hallett! Pretty boat, Biesemeyer molds made it, and honestly, would be the most user friendly 18' I've seen even above the Sleeks.

My '06 F350 4X4 Crew Cab. 6.0 Turbo Diesel, 148k miles. Power everything except the seats (cloth) and no carpet (vinyl.......I wanted it this way so I could just hose it out after a weekend at the lake/river. It's the Red truck on the other side of Crewcheif's Hondo.........couldn't find any other pics of the thing and I KNOW I have a ton!

Whatever you see in any pics I've posted, is available. I been very generous, and forgiving, with everyone I know, and hope for the same in return.

Any pics you want, lemme know, and we can negotiate if you're serious.

I realy hate to see a guy have to give up his toys....

Heat pumps are more complicated and therefore expensive.  I'm guessing heat pump because you don't have natural gas?

I'm no HVAC expert.  But it's not rocket science.  You CAN do a simple HVAC install yourself.  You might new to get a licensed buddy to purchase the a/c equipment for you (depending on your local regulations).  I've done two successful installations - one from scratch (as in there was NOTHING there before I started).  The other was replacement, which included running new electric and refrigerant lines.  No problems with either install.  I used brass Swagelok compression fittings to simplify the line hook-ups, which eliminated the need for brazing.

Mostly just grunt & detail work.   Might need some minor sheet metal work, but that's just sheet metal shears and a pop rivet gun.   You'll need to pay someone to evacuate the lines and check the charge after final hook-up if you don't have refrigerant, a vacuum pump, and a gage set.

Since summer is over, you won't need a/c for a while, so you can just do the furnace install to make it through the winter (assuming you have natural gas).  Complete the a/c as you have time.  That's what I did on one of the installs.

Anyone who can set up a blower motor can do HVAC.

Just my 2 cents.

Too bad your so far away or I'd saw I'd be able you help you greatly. I work for a commercial HVAC and refrigeration company... But me and another guy do side jobs, he started in residential over 10 years ago.

Thanks guys! But replacing this is a rather involved deal, and large, and involves a crane! Should be finished up today, but those funds need replenished.

No, no V-drive stuff, save for a couple of front motor plates and water pumps. $55 is a start on the blower stuff, lol.

The heads are 75cc Ralph.

Heads are Edelbrock Performer RPM #6067. A few bent valves so a complete valve job is needed. They have Comp magnum roller tip rockers.

Valve covers are Procomps. Fitty bux?

Crane?  Pfft.  Build one out of the trailers and use the boats as counterweights.  This can be as much fun as you make it.

It has been awhile but I remember the crane rental being surprisingly cheap.   It was the unit itself that was the big expense.
