Why would you need a flywheel cover?

most flatbottom vdrives have a cover and tube so if the driveshaft breaks it doesnt flop around and kill you and blow holes in your boat.  i think i saw this at the swap meet in brocks stash, the finish was rough but it was a solid piece.  i think its chromed steel.

couldnt hurt a jet either, im lookin to move to a 4 point/plate mount and ill have to figure out something to cover my flywheel and probably my driveshaft as well.
