Exhaust question

Anyone running over transom pipes off of their manifolds and doing away with the snails?
I ask because I have a friend who builds gas panels who can make me some out of stainless that would be custom fit for my boat?

I dont but they look really bad as on v-drive cruisers . You can always go back.
