wtb: bbc remote oil filter set up
« on: January 24, 2011, 08:02:40 PM »
Interested in a remote oil filter set up for a bbc. I'm not completely sure of everything that I need. I would assume some type of block off plate with 2 fittings, 2 lines and the remote bracket?
Any input on a good location would be helpful and let me know what ya got. send a pm or reply here.

they are affordable...just search around jegs or summit and youll find what you are looking for...disclaimer...this might not be the kit that fits your motor...always double check your application first...i just pulled one up for the picture

haha. fair enough. any ideas on a good location? keep it on the motor somehow? transom?
Im thinking I want to keep it on the motor just to keep it all together if I pull the motor at any time.

just filters the oil more, and more oil to buy...no real advantage...just always buy a name brand filter

2 seasons ago I bought one from Checker/Kragen for $80. Came as a kit with a couple different thread adapters for different motors. Single filter. 6' of hose, clamps, everything needed but filter. Mine is mounted down low on my drivers side  stringer, just above my water inlet from the pump. That way my lines are kept minimal, since its by my original filter location on the motor.

be REALLY careful with the transdapt kits. I went to fire my engine up one day and the crimp where the rubber hose is attached to the brass fitting tore open and pissed oil EVERYWHERE. I have since had stainless braided lines and AN fittings adapted to the kit.
