Just want some thoughts/opinions about the "Best" place to purchase/vacation in the Nevada, California or Arizona states? Long story short..getting close to retiring and want to spend winters down south. Own a jet boat, golf, gamble and drink beer. Where would you like to spend your "golden years"? (no realtors please). Thx. Vic. :)

Palm Desert CA area has great year round weather (if you don't mind 105+ a couple months a year), more golf than you can swing a club at ;) several indian resort/casinos, and it's only 1 1/2 hours from the lower river (Blythe area) and just over 2 hours from Parker.

Bull head, havasu & parker all have the. Ammenities
Your asking for and all within a hour of each other
I say make a road trip and see what you really like
Good luck and congrats.

ya i would say spend a week in each one of the locations that you are thinking about. It sucks to buy a place and then realize a different spot would meet your needs better.
I plan on retiring somewhere near willow valley on the water. I dont want to deal with the crowds in havasu or parker unless i want to. then i can just cruise down there. the avi is 10 mins away and laughlin is not far either.
I really like that area of the river. the only down side is most of the beaches are on indian land and you have to have the indian pass to use them.
other than that the place rocks.

Ca vs. Az vs. Nv
Planning on retiring in the southwest?

I'd stay away from Ca, the income taxes are near double of Az, and Nv has no state income taxes.
California is broke, and they're stealing from the taxpayers.
Registration on newer cars/trucks are similar, however, older cars/trucks are considerably less in Az and Nv
Medical? Las Vegas, then a toss-up between Havasu and BHC/Laughlin.
Golf, I dont know, I'm not old enough.
Beer? Nevada, 24/7/365
Boating? Theres nearly 450 boatable miles on the Colorado river, From Yuma to Lake Mead, With 3 Major lakes, and several small ones.
Oh, BTW, If you spend more than 10 days in Ca, You NEED to become a California resident, In Az and Nv, you'll just be a snow bird. But Ca has the best immigration laws.
Thats all I got

Thanks everyone for the tips/replies. Keep-em coming. Good advice to do the travelling road show and try to get a feel for each spot down the river. We like VRBO's (feels more like home when you rent a place) . Heats an issue though, I love it...wife not so much. Been researching lots but nothing beats hands on, we stayed Vegas last April and visited Boulder City, next trip will head down river. thanks again. Vic.

You should plan a caravan with Gord and check out Laughlin and Big River with us.

Vic, you need to REALLY get with Gord and spend some time down here!
Personally, I would be "rooming for the time being, and HAVE" and then buying any place near Gil and Brenda's place in Willow Valley, Az. Tony "Aquaholic" bought a place near there also.
AND It's in AZ........an NEAR casino's BOTH on the reservation AND Laughlin..............
I'm not seein' a downside............

Check out big river. Golf and the ability to waste money gambling is not too far. Its a locals place. Pops ha a friend that lives on the water with his own launch.. Almost (none I've ever seen there) UN patrolled water.
