Title: Glamis trip
Post by: Beaveretriever on December 05, 2013, 04:48:50 PM
Well I never posted anything about our trip on the 15th-17th of Nov. I only have a few pictures.

I bought a new car after not going to the sand for 2 years. I have two chassis that im trying to sell that I was going to build and just ran out of time. The story on the car was one of my hardest buys and super sad, but the car is in a good home now.

The lady that was selling the car got it from her father. Her dad was a long time glamis original. He got the car new in the late 90's early 2000's. The daughter and her family built the car and took it out once. After they took it out the father passed away with cancer. The second trip the family took the car out and on the way home the daughter had a pain in her chest. She had it checked and she had breast cancer. She thankfully survived and beat cancer. they were selling the car because they have since stopped going to the desert. When I bought the car she broke down crying. It was heart breaking.

A little info on this car
Its a mazzone chassis with a 1915 vw motor dual 40 webers. The car was practically brand new. I bought it and put gas in it took it to the desert and drove it around for 2 days with not a single problem. Here are a few pictures that I have of the car

Im going again after Christmas and Ill have video and more pictures hopefully

What a good looking buggy.  If everything works out I'll get to see it between Christmas and new years.

If I didn't have so many other projects going I'd talk to you about the builder buggies you have, but it probably wouldn't go over very well at the moment.  ;)

I have one that is basically ready to go, just needs a trailer and a motor. My brother is buying a new trailer that you could use. And I know that I can either take the motor out of this red car or build you another one :-)

I have a couple engines. The one in the new red car I bought has a 1915 with dual 40 webers. My other motor that will go in after the season is a 2275 10:1 full circle crank big heads k-motion 880 springs. Im going to sell the carbs off that motor, dual 48 dellortos and put on either a pair of 48idas or drop the compression and run a turbo.

Nice car. That's a crazy shifter set up. It looks like an old PBS set up. I love the little mid engine cars. I have another chassis that I was going to build before I bought my new one. Its for sale too. Its a Johnny Speed and chrome 122" mid engine. Its a bare frame, but I have a bunch of stuff that im going to sell with it for pretty cheap if you know of anyone looking. I also have a rear engine car all ready to go minus motor. I need to sell them because they are sitting at my brothers house and he has run out of room.

He is planning on having it out there with just the front done. I am going to help him ghetto wire it for the week until he can finish the dash and get the other motor in it.

I hope that this trip isn't like the last trip that's for sure. I plan on burning every last drop of fuel that I bring with me. Should be a fun trip.

I will be in this car and you can see the trailer in the background. Not that the trailer helps, there are only about 500 30ft weekend warriors there on any given weekend.

Just make sure that last drop of fuel isn't 12 miles from camp, those things don't float down river as good as a boat.
