I go there usually twice a week.. What are you wanting to know? I was actually there this morning launching my party barge for a coworker to borrow. Lake waters kinda gross and its usually pretty rough depending on the time and the day. Tons to do around the lake though, and nice camp sites.

dude i forgot to call you while i was there 8/21-9/1. did you go to the lake during those dates? colt did you see the somebody painted over the "B" on the fairy boat so it would say "ass Lake"? couldn't stop laughing!

RivRat34
everything SuperDuty said is true. it's not a big lake so don't take a big a$$ boat, guys will bring 26'-30' boats and practically make chop from end to end ;). something about it though keeps me coming back every year . always nice peeps!

so if you have a big boat and aren't nice don't go >:D go to Piru, Castaic or Pyramid  :sly:
see you there

They are pretty strict on most of the rules.. Mostly because its usually pretty busy and ALOT of people try to see how drunk they can get in daddys boat and haul ass everywhere. Im taking the party barge out there tomorrow then Redinger on sunday. If you have a boat thats loud and/or fast.. Id suggest Redinger for sure. Its a skinny but fairly long lake so the wake breaks fast. Maybe 30 people a day go out there because its not the prettiest of surroundings but the waters really clean. Bass Lake does get quite a few local "ballers" in therebig cats and off shore style boats but they usually only make 2 or 3 runs all day and just park at a beach to show off.

75- Im sure I was out there those dates.. I pretty much live out there since its close and wet! Every year someone takes blue paint and paints over the B on the side of the Bass Lake Queen (that big ass fairy boat). I didnt see it this year but I swear it never gets old. That boats actually for sale but not advertised. I want to make a floating burger/dog saleing place. I bet Id make a killing on the lake!

Its a beautiful lake.  But, that place is a disaster on the weekends, like cruising around in a washing machine.

And SD, You forgot to mention the worst part (IMO) about that place.  Maybe things have changed sense I was last there (probably not), but to be on that lake, you needed to buy the special BassLake permit/sticker for your boat.  Price for the permit is/was based on HP, more HP = more money for the permit.  Permits are purchased at the ranger station island/shack.  You launch your boat and report to the island, where you get an inspection (lifevests, safety stuff, etc, etc), once all that is done you buy your permit (good for one year/season) or get sent home. They do not like loud boats.

Other options in the area with same scenery are, Shaver lake, and Huntington lake.  Lower altitude (no trees) are Millerton lake, Pine flat lake, Hensley lake (not recommended).

Totally forgot about the registration! Yah, it maxes out around 60 bucks for the highest HP. I think its anything over 250 horse. To tell you the truth I made it out 6 times with year with the flatty without buying a sticker. Just have to be on your toes when you see the sheriffs coming around. They actually stopped the boat inspection so that they have the right to board your boat legally to check. The ONLY time Iv ever seen them do that is when theres a wakeboard boat with 30 drunk people dancing and screaming. They usually lay off the people just enjoying the lake and having a few beers but if your acting hammered drunk they will get you.  If your traveling up here Id deff. say to hit Shaver. Iv never boated on Pine Flat but Iv heard alot of good about it. Millerton is always way to damn hot for me!

You might want to call and check on conditions.   It may very well be quite low because extremely light snowfall levels last winter.
And you can be guaranteed that it will be a complete zoo on a holiday weekend.  LOTS of people use that lake nowadays.

Went there as a kid growing up. Grandparents had a cabin there. My wife and I went with our other boat 2 years ago. It had a built BBF and Bassets with baffles and I had to beg the guy to let me slide for being a couple decibels over. We didn't even launch it the second day. Just hung at the cove. They let anybody rent boats so it's a zoo out there on weekends.  They also allow tubes so imaging donuts on a smaller lake and they can happen in front of you at any time. Other then that it is an absolutely beautiful place. I like that area as well as Oakhurst.
