Was up there on sat. and sun.
Still feels like home...even after 8 years
DWP let a lot of water go last fall, and didn't get any snow (to speak of) last winter, makes for big beaches...some are mud
Did ya hit "Tail O' the Whale"?

Cool video

Tail O Whale is a Restaurant/bar on the water towards the center of town.  How was the grass out on the water?  sometimes that can be a real problem.  Looks like y'all had a great day.  Now go check your trucks brakes

Restaurant and 'lounge' with boat docks...

Food was OK, but the beer was cold. Big outdoor area over looking the lake.

Correction- B's Backyerd BBQ...Used to be Tail O the Whale.

I will definitely check it out on the next trip. Grass in the water was not as bad as the previous year. When we did encounter any I kept the float at idle until we were in the clear.

As far as the brakes
Learning from last few trips, I use the low gears going down. Let the engine do the work.

I went through a brand new set of brake pads in one trip last season.

It's bigger than Elsinore but it's more of a cruiser lake. However lake patrol is pretty chill. And as long as your not driving crazy they don't trip.

Living in Victorville I always take the back way through lucerne

Pump salad does suck
It happened to once but learned from it

You can open it up, but your down ~30% on hp vs the river, (6750 ft elev.)

I got stopped (actually just sitting) by DWP saying there was a race boat on the lake raising hell, throwing roostertails, 70 mph, loud, etc.
I had an SBC, topped out at 48mph (@ the river) open/baffled headers, floating in a cove.

I told him 'its not that loud, its a roller motor", Fired it up and he agreed...
(baffle 'em with bulls&!t or dazzle 'em with details)

Watch out for the crazy fawkers in sailboats...they OWN the lake...more chop than Mohave/Havasu on a windy day...wtf???
Jet skiis? Well I boat @ casino row now, Big Bear jet skiis are amateurs...(and don't like 55* water)

Still miss it.

I like Big Bear.  I have a cabin up there and go almost most of the summer .  The lake is cool until about noon on the weekends .  I have a 18ft sea ray just for that lake.  This year the lake is very low.  Lower then I have seen is in the last 3 years.  It is a very nice lake to boat on.  I receive a letter this year that that boat like my jet is going to be a issue with noise with open header.  I have not took my jet on lake yet to see if it was true.  Besides that Big Bear is a nice lake to chill on.
