As I recall early fifties, jumped in the water to cool off, boat drifted away with the wind. He couldn't keep up and went down.

The man was in his fifty’s.  This story sounds strange to me. If you read the story it says ’’the man jumped in to cool off and the motorboat drifted away in the current’’, I don’t ever recall a current in the lake, wind maybe.  And then it says’’ The girlfriend was unable to get a rope to him and she did not know how to operate the boat.’’ I could be completely wrong but wouldn’t you think someone could figure out how to start a boat and try to maneuver it if they had to? Still is sad to here tho...

Rumor has it, he was recovered wearing a jacket and having similar hair style as Arthur Fonzorelli

gotta be tethered to the boat.  time to start inventing a "dont lose your boat!" product.
