Anybody heading out to Elsinore this weekend???
-
I was there Saturday and Sunday....I know I know my reply is too late hehe. I'm going back the weekend after fathers day. If anybody else wants to go...let's do it.
Btw I got a ticket there on Sunday. I was floating around and unfortunatly floated into the No Wake Zone. When I was ready to putter out I didn't realize I had my diverter all the way up and when I stepped on the gas the front came up, I guess it looked like I hauled ass out of there. Needles to say with my luck, there they were pulling me over and writing me 75 dollar ticket. How the hell do they know how fast I was going being as far away as they were? Is this an easy ticket to fight? Or just say F it and send the check in? Sorry not trying to jack the thread but I'm just warning everybody else about the dicks that are patrolling Elsinore. Didn't help that I told them it was my first time out on any lake and I'm not "hip" to the lake rules.
-
I am surprized you got a ticket.Usally they just give you a warning.Must be the economy and the city needs money. Was it busy out there?
-
Yeah I thought it was a dick move on their part giving me the ticket especially me having all the required equipment in the boat and explaining to them over and over again that I wasn't speeding and it was my first time on the lake. Oh well I'll dispute it. The way I look at it I'm innocent until proven guilty so they have to provide prove that I was speeding which is now way no how that's likely to happen.
It wasn't too busy and the water was very calm. Nice and sunny day but the water is filthy.

Speaking from the standpoint of a veteran ticket fighter -- pay the ticket. The reality is you have to prove that you were NOT moving faster than 5 mph. You also have to prove you were not creating a wake. Obviously if you were taking off with the intention of going faster, you were doing both of those things as that is how jetboats work. The officer will be presumed by the judge to be writing good tickets as he is a professional doing his job. He and the judge likely know each other, and have shared a docket a time or two. The officer is only on the lake on weekends, during the week he is in a patrol car dealing with real criminals so a chance to come to court is like a day off for him, he will show up. And then he will testify how you told him several times that this is your first time out and you don't know the rules very well.
I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just telling you that you should man up and pay the fine.
Oh and the lake is actually in pretty good shape. Filthy? Nah, you haven't seen filthy at Elsie and probably won't until the end of next summer.

Yeah I've fought tickets over the past 5 years myself ever since I've equired a CDL when I turned 21 and most of my cases so far I've had a 90% chance of winning the ticket by simply mentioning that I am inocent until proven guilty. By signing a ticket your not aknowledging guilt but simply promising that you will take care of the ticket wether it be showing up or paying the fine.
When you get accused my a cop of doing something wrong he has to provide prove of you braking the law (radar gun, video etc...) if he cannot provide prove then the ticket gets thrown out of the court. He is accusing me I'm not accusing him that's why I don't have to provide prove of me being an upstanding citizen and doing what I was supposed to do. Either way I always do a trial by decleration and so far I've been successful with it. Its not the 75 bucks that I don't wanna pay its the fact that the pig did a huge dick move. Not to mention huge stereo typing on his part. Justy cause I'm bald, have a goatee and sleeves he was drilling me about if I was ever arrested and what not... can't stand cops.
-
Well good luck then. Let us know how it turns out OK ;D
-
Will do sir, either way I'm going back the weekend after fathers day.

Watch out for the no-wake zones. ;D

Haha thx for the ball bust and I'll make sure I'll putter right through them.
-
I would recommend giving a shot and try to contest it to the best of your ability. I've had about 50/50 success in contesting the citations I've fought. Good Luck

Hey guys I know I've said I'm available Saturday and Sunday but my plans changed recently. Most of you are taking their boats out on Sunday which I won't be able to make. I got called to work this upcoming Sunday so I'll be taking her out Saturday for a couple of test laps. If some of you can make it out on Saturday that'll be great. My buddy and I should be out on the water around 11am. Look for us in an orange Tahiti and brown and yellow Bandito hehe, yes Bandito.
Hope to see and meet some of guys from the site on Saturday. If not, have fun and be safe.
-
No meet n greet with anybody hehehe...
The water was choppy gentelmen, not too crowded but dirty...very dirty.
Have fun tomorrow and once more be safe.

I failed. Nothing went my way this weekend. At least I got to buff, polish and waxed on sat. Next time
-
That's one thing I still have to do is buff, polish and wax hehe. Don't really have the time or supplies as of now so consider yourself lucky you got most of the elbow grease work done on Saturday. I think I'm just gonna take her in and get it done professionaly. Knowing me I'll fack that up somehow.
