try perris next time. all the seadoos suck. there stupid a$$ drivers and get in your way but if you just wanna get out on the water for the day its not too bad.the water is a cleanest(sp) ive seen in a long time. way nicer than elsinore. only bad thing is a mussle inspection and seadoos. other than that this past weekend there was great!!!plus the fees are $4 cheaper than elsinore. you wont catch us at elsinore anytime soon!

beer needs to go in to the red party cups. its a state park so they say no beer but weve never had a problem. if your not actin stupid nothing to worry about. bbq's are ok. never had a problem with the headers there too woried about the qudra muscels(sp) to ever notice the headers. the only fish youll be eatin is the fish you catch. its not a buffet like elsinore. we found a sopt on the island thats isolated so no dumb ass seadoo famlies can be next to you. about 40ft of beach front property surrounded by trees n bushes.

The biggest thing they look for, is for the inside of your boat to be DRY, no water in the bilge at all

yeah make sure the motor area and any storage areas as well as the pump is dry. any water at all and you just wasted your gas to get there. the water level is about 80% full. around the backside of the island is still a 5mph zone.

Basically, common sence areas to look,....
You need to be dry and out of the water for a certain amount of time, there is a "meter" you can look up how long out of the water you need to be: http://www.100thmeridian.org/Emersion.asp

after you pull the boat off the water at perris or silverwood(both state parks) you can get an inspection tag thats attached to the boat AND trailer so if you dont launch anywhere else you can pass the inspection line the next time at either perris or silverwood. saves alot of time (over an hour and a half in the inspection line)

I bought my boat a few weeks ago and will be taking it out for the first time to Laughlin next week. I was wondering what is the best local lake to just take it out for the day. I just looked up Lake Perris because in this thread people were talking highly about it but saw that there is a 35MPH speed limit! WTF!? Is this true for all local lakes?

Elsinore is pretty crappy though right? Where do you like to go locally? I have my 5 day trip next week to Laughlin but Id like to take it out once or twice after that before the season is over.

I always launch out of the north ramp. Be careful tho cause it can be VERY slippery on the ramp. go to the south end to the cove and beach.  It really isnt that bad :sly: but having the high speed zone in the center is really cool. Have your GPS on and just go balls out >:D Alot of the guys go to the ramp that is on the eastern flank, I can't vouch for that one seeing as I have never launched from there. Decent place to make sure your ride is running good tho, and close. The North ramp has an ole cougar that will look your ride over for the exhaust tho, can be a cantankerous ole fart and not let you launch if you dont have mufflers. We have gotten in tho, with some bullshittin.  Not sure about the other ramp tho.  Just my .02, take her out and let it rip ;D

Damn, I dont have mufflers. My boat is VERY loud, just the way I like it. I guess I'll have to bullshit my way in. I'll probably go in a couple weeks. So is the end of September about the last good time to go out? Im a rookie.

This is So Cal man, you can boat year round.   Currently the lake is warmer than 80 on the surface and it will only drop to around 50 in the winter LOL.
Seriously, you can boat until Nov. easy.   If you use the city (eastern) ramp, watch out for the poor condition of the docks themselves.   If you use the marina ramp, do not put your front wheels anywhere near the water.   Probably not much police presence after Labor Day but you will always run a 50/50 chance of dealing with the ramp Nazi at the Marina West ramp.   Enjoy!
Oh and the bathrooms in the campground at Marina West are way cleaner then anywhere else on the lake.
