Title: Going out to Lake Elsinore tomorrow
Post by: 86caribbean on March 14, 2014, 12:50:45 PM
Going to be a nice day out on the water, I'll be out there making some noise and hanging out in the cove if anyone is up for some fun and a few cold ones look me up.

How's lake smell some more? I took my boat out there a few years ago for testing, and it was ok, I just remember how badly it smelled lol.... Maybe just the time of year I went

Wen't out to Elsinore today, the wind kinda sucked made it rough out in the middle, had some white caps. We decided to leave early, no fun boating in those conditions. The main reason I was needing to test the boat is I've been beating my head against a wall  :banghead:, trying to figure out why ever since I installed a Place diverter when I slow down to a stop I get a big spray back over the transom. I even called Place Diverters in La Habra and they cant explain it either. I dont mind a few dropplets of water, but it douches my entire engine, I'm lost about this problem and no one can seem to give me an answer about it. I spent the rest of the afternoon taking the place diverter off and installing the stock Berkeley nozzle. I will head back to Elsinore tomorrow to see if all is back to normal.

Have someone else drive and come to a stop while you look over the back.

I have two times, my g/f goes with me and she leans over to see where the water is coming up, she says it's right between the cables, but more so on the right side, just like it's running up the forward/reverse cable. I have re-installed the Berkeley nozzle with the forward/reverse bucket cable back on the left side of the nozzle the way it used to be without any problems. I will head back out early tomorrow and play for a few hours, I would think the problem should be gone, after all, it never done it with these parts. If all is back to normal I'll just clean up and Berkeley nozzle nicely and keep it on, no need to drive myself insane trying to find out what the hell is going on and looking for a fix. :screwy: I may never find a legit answer why my boat doesn't like a place diverter.

It's not uncommon for the gimbals to have excessive wear on the socket side to the point of brand new o rings not sealing properly.
Get a look for yourself and let her drive next time.

Ive got the same exact problem. Soaks my motor every time i stop. I'm pretty sure the the diverter arm dragging in the water

Yeah, I'm thinking it's that dual arm assembley on the diverter too now. I'm going back out today with the OEM Berkeley piece bolted on, if it's all back to normal I'm just going to have to live without a dirverter nozzle, because I'm tired of having my engine doused with water.....maybe I'll see someone out there today...cheers..

Well, had a good day at Elsinore today, quite a few nice boats showed up. My splash back over the transom is now completely gone with the Berkeley nozzle back on. Plus my boat ran 2 mph faster!, than with the place diverter..go figure that one out!...I do wish my boat liked having a diverter, but I may never know what was causing all the water to wet my entire engine and headers when slowing down. I'm going to have to go with that dual arm assembly that the dirverter has and how the water exits the rear of the boat and leave it at that.

When your coming to a idle position tap the throttle just a bit so you dont get the wake rushing over the back

That's not the problem that I have been having, we all know to goose the throttle a bit in a jet boat so your own wake won't catch up to the rear of the boat. This is an excessive spray/splash over the transom that would make a big mess all over my engine, totally not normal, but hey, it's gone now with the original Berkeley nozzle back in place.

We'll not everyone knows this, but they will learn quickly... Haha

Very true, we all go through a learning curve as we learn..Hey, I will be going out to Parker Strip the last weekend this month, staying at Buckskin Mountain State Park, for our first river trip this year.
