Title: Lake Irvine - OK to water test maybe break in a boat?
Post by: speedymopars on March 26, 2008, 09:11:03 PM
Lake irvine is all of 4 miles from my house. I'd love to check out my boat really close to home like that. I don't need to do 70 MPH, but what I do need to do is make sure my boat floats, the steering, reverser and diverter work, and the engine can idle without dieing. I assume the entire lake is a 10 MPH zone, and I even have mufflers in my transom. Anyone know if I drop my jet in there?

its a fishing only lake....all no wake zone.

BUT....from what i hear, they do high speed testing there if you know the right people to talk to, but its like $100 a day i think

elsinore is going to be your best bet for average joes like us.....still pricey at $20 a day, but it beats anything else local.

Thanks. I'm actually thinking I could pull this off (I have a fishing pole!). Thankfully I don't need to do a break in, I just need to start it up and go..I even have muffs in the 4 inch pipes.... So I could potentially start it and putt it around to make sure stuff works before I try and drive it somewhere.

If accurate, the $100 seems reasonable 'cause for me if I have to turn around and go home, repair, then back out again (4 miles vs 35 and a toll road), timewise alone I burn through WAYYY more than a hundred (really $80 'cause el is $20) bucks. The conveniance factor is well worth a hundred to me on that critical first trip to water with every single piece being brand new.

I'll be checking that out soon....

No jet boats allowed - fishing lake only according to the powers that be -

Then as I'm walking out, a BIG eliminator is going in. Definately NOT a fishing boat. I asked, and he said it is a 100 bucks from 4-8 on certain days if you know who to talk to.
