Lake near raging waters ?
« on: July 01, 2017, 10:15:56 pm »
Anyone ever been to the lake near raging waters ? Frank bonelli recreation area ? I know they allow boats there and it's super close to me , wondered if anyone on here has ever been there ? Would be a good little lake to test and check things ...

Frank G Bonnelli State park, Lake Puddingstone (Puddlestone, lol)

The last time I was there was '77 or '78.

I hear there is odd and even days, boats on one, jet skis on the other.

35 mph speed limit, I think.

Gotcha , well for being only 20 min from me would definitely be convenient to be able to change  my trailer bunks then , next closest is Elsinore and that's aTleast an hour drive just to change bunks out , I'll just have to be sure to go on an even or odd day for boats hahah , is the water clean though , could make a day out of it to take the 2 year old with me though to cruise around

Yep. You need to call to find out what days boats are allowed. Great Lake for a test float. Be advised, you will get a ticket if you speed. Lake is teeny tiny small

It's a beautiful lake and I highly recommend visiting there.  However, I wouldn't classify it as jet boat-friendly at all.

The speed limit there is indeed 35 MPH max. (25 MPH min.) in the fast boat area; with all other areas > 200' from shore, being 12 MPH; and < 200' from shore is 5 MPH.

There are very strict noise requirements.  Do not expect to even launch with OT headers.

The mussel inspection was very thorough.  Don't even bother showing up if your bilge (and all of your equipment) isn't immaculate.

Definitely expect a safety equipment compliancy inspection.  Persons under 6 years of age need to wear a PFD while underway.

Lastly, they are dead serious about no alcohol, and glass bottles for that matter.

It's very worth going, but not for a test & tune session.

Cheers,

Joe

A quick last minute, super chill get away.... maybe. They are very strict and ask to see everything. Better have a throwable. I have seen someone working on their bunks there. But it was before memorial day. If you are 10 min away and just want to enjoy a little bit of Sun without the drive, I guess it's cool. I live in Ontario and would not go there again. Water is cleaner than elsinore... I got a speeding ticket there. I was not speeding. It was 500 bucks. Yes, $500. I fought it and won. But this is just my experience.

I live about a mile from puddingstone and will say this , the people who run the inspections are usually not educated on exhaust systems or boats and styles of - I've brought my water injected OT headers on my jet there through the inspections and they've let me pass, water is decent , and definitely doable for a quick bunk swap and quick lake run (very small circles), you can actually call and talk to the person in the little shack and have them answers your questions if you have any (EX: I called a few weeks ago when I bought my 27' hallett to lake test it there , even though the rules said 26' max the let me come based on my discussion and made an exception, they were quite polite too, just ask for the lifeguard guy/manager) . But if you want to make a day out of it , I would 100% hit lake silverwood. Beautiful lake and sandy beaches throughout and more of a large lake feel. I don't care what anyone says elsinores water still creeps me out :(
