-
I have not been yet but was told that top speed is 35mph :(
-
No high speed passes, but maybe good for a relaxing float?????
-
Buena Park to Silverwood in an hour? You better have a 502 in your truck!
-
im not far from it either. let me know when you go, maybe meet up or somethin. i also heard about the 35 limit.
-
I was thinking 2 weeks from this weekend- I think the weekend is the 27th or something- Put the baffles back in and hopefully not get hasseled ???
-
its nice there there isnt alot of rangers but they do patrol ive never had any problems except u need to get there early or u may not get on the water an there is usually a line to get in so i get there around 4ish 5ish to insure u get on the water but very nice place to blast around an hangout ooo an gets a little windy in the late afternoon
-
4 or 5 in the morning :o Holy early!!!! do they have a second moto I can get in???? Is it like some of the other socal lakes that make you wait in line until one comes off- or do you only get one wack at it??? Is the place pretty Big?????
-
The place is a good sized lake . I've opened it up a few times out there and wasn't hassled . Of course if it's busy they are going to watching a little closer . Between silverwood and puddingstone , I spent all of my childhood there . I think 35 is the speed limit on every lake . ??? I'm not sure .
Squiggies right on about the time though . I've gotten there drunk at 3 am and there was at least ten boats in front of me . You can also call and make a reservation so you can roll up when ever you like . It's kind of hard to find a beach though but there are some nice spots . One of my favorite lakes , I just dont like the drive on the 138.

I was also thinking about trying to get up there, Live in Lake Forest and pass the turnoff from here in about about an 1 hour 15 min. How far off the 15 and how bad of a drive towing a boat?

How far you from Hwy 138 ? From there it probably another 15 min . ??? The kicker is there is an enourmous amount of very windy road you have to go through . The lake is definatly nice and worth the trip at least once . Huge ramp and since it's in the mountains I dont think they hassle about the muffs. I've never seen it anyways.

I'll stand behind my getting there early statment . Or get a reservastion and get there whenever you like , thats always nice . I've heard they have some pretty cool camping there too and I've heard it is usually booked all summer . Very popular place to camp and boat . My freind works odd hours and goes during the week and swears by that place .

They call that place "Snake Lake" for a reason. Don't sleep on the ground unless you are open to "company".

Silverwood is the local lake for us... we use it a lot during the week.
there is a speed limit of 35mph.
when we first got the new (to us) boat, we went and made some high speed passes... the Rangers chased us down and we got the speed limit speech... no ticket though.
I haven't been on a weekend in probably 15+ years... we used to get there at 5am and hope you could get in! I think they only let 125 boats on the lake. If you didn't get in that first 125, you had to wait for someone to leave... one out, one in.
Heres the link for reservations:
http://www.reserveamerica.com/campgroundDetails.do?subTabIndex=0&contractCode=ca&parkCode=silv
BTW, the wind usually starts blowing round 3pm. Sometimes a little, sometimes alot.
-
What time does the lake open to boating?
-
6am during the summer.
-
I am going on Monday. Made a reservation and it still said it had 117 left so there shouldn't be many people on the lake. Not going to really try the high speed thing but I am gonna try to run without my baffles in my headers.
Should be able to let everyone know how it goes on Tuesday. O0
-
Well, the lake is awesome.... So long as you go durning the week. I have been twice since the last post, once on a monday and the other on a tuesday. I have not been on the weekend but judging by the size of the lake, 125 boats on that lake would be insane!
Ran the boat with no baffles in and didn't get any issues from the Rangers at all. Even pulling it out of the water, when I had to run the engine to get the water out, I thought for sure that I would get a talking to but nobody came up. I did make a few runs where I was screaming, but nobody paid it any mind. I didn't even see a ranger on the water both days, and I didn't leave until 4pm. O0
-
good to hear, i got to go try that lake out too..

last time i was there no wind great time be there on the 4 th
-
Yeah, the wind thing is an issue if it kicks up enough. That canyon that the lake is in acts like a funnel and the wind can get screaming through there. It was a little windy on the Tuesday that I went out but I figured being out on the water is enough to forget about the wind.
-
what is the water like at silverwood, i havent been there in a couple years but the last time i was there it was pretty bad.
-
Bad, as in how? When I went it was actually pretty nice. Fairly clean for the most part and actually not too cold. Cold at first but you get used to it fast.
-
i just meant the water was pretty dirty, it seemed like there was a lot of crap floating in the water, but i think i am going to head out there and try it pretty soon. thanks
-
Has the season ended so you can get in yet? Or still need reservations. Thinking about going tomorrow - but getting there at 4am ain't gonna cut it....
