Was reading threw this post about needing baffles on silverwood, I been going every other weekend depending on weather, testing stuff and I have NO problems at all, they don't even ask or look when you pay to get in, they just check the bildge area for water, so make sure if you go up there its dry or they won't let you on unless you have the green inspection tag then your good. I run open no baffles at all and mine is LOUD and never had a problem, we went up valentines day, was a few other boats and seadoos out, had a great time

Ive been going to silverwood the last 4 years and have never had a problem either, all of my boats over those 4 years have had over the transom bassetts and no baffles. im usually there 4 or 5 times a month.

Without baffles, its definitely too loud. With baffles, still too loud, but 'they' see you are trying to comply.

Most logs and snails are borderline too loud, but rarely get looked at, in my experience.

"Everyone says" you won't be hassled at the river, I've been checked twice in the same summer...and have baffles. (NV Fish and Game)

What about running dry headers with baffles?

When I had my Howard, it had an Olds in it that had reversion problems so I would always run it dry and it didn't have any baffles at all. still never got hassled. Now im talking about Silverwood lake though. Ive only been to the river a handful of times and most times it has been with the newer boat which is pretty quiet compared to my Rogers.

I've heard in Parker that running dry with baffles is legal.  But not sure about in California.

To be honest im not sure if it is or isn't, I just know ive never been stopped.......... doesn't mean its ok though lol

My boat is pretty damn loud. And it seems to be louder than a lot of big block guys with Bassetts with or without baffles

And I haven't had an issue yet. I will probably end up with a ticket eventually

Mine does 92db @ idle and 114 @ 2500 rpm in the drive way.

And if they do check you for loudness they take you over to miller canyon off to the right where you launch your boat, whats dumb about that its a cove between 2 mountains... so yes DUH its gonna be louder in there and echo LOL

Just wanted to throw in my 2cents about silverwood.... Im running wet bassetts no baffles never any problem... But as previously mentioned about the coast guard trainees, a few of us were beached chillin, and they cruised by casting a wake with a white cap and swamped my float as well as my buddy's... They got an ass chewin' by us at the ramp, so it probably won't happen any time soon, but beware of them!!!
