Title: Sunday AM Elsinore
Post by: J2 on June 03, 2016, 09:13:55 AM
Anyone want to meet up and race for fun?

I can't make 2 events this year so the list is out.

Sunday mornings at Elsinore are usually calm until about 10am. If we meet around 7:30-8am that gives us plenty of time to line up and run em hard. Practice your dig, it's all about the start.

I'm planning on this Sunday morning, then I'm out until after July 4th holiday.

Based on what I've read from those who have been there lately the water level is ok. I'll be dropping a line to check the depth myself when I'm there.

As always we race smart & safe.

More than likely you will probably have the fastest boat there. Most of the guys in that group that live in Socal have 75-80 mph boats. And hopefully this don't start no war but those guys are really quick to judge. When brad had the Avi trip with them they asked all kinds of questions about the Hankey boat with the blower that Corey kindly let me take. I was honest told them it wasn't my boat. About 7 out of 10 laughed said I can't believe your friend let you borrow his blower boat. Guys had no idea motor belonged to me and my 18 at the time was 20+ mph faster. So in my opinion just be careful some of the guys where cool but seemed to be more people wanting to talk trash than sit down and hang out.

Yeah, i like the group, there are some decent guys on there. And the owner is trying hard to make it work...

But there are definitely some "ahem" Undersirables. If that makes sense.

Not that im any better than anyone else, but just some of the behavior ive seen i would rather not be around. Especially with a kid

Theres a couple of quickish boats on there, one being a V drive (his dads long story but lol)

Another should be quick, Hans just built him a decent engine for it.

With that said. Im sure J2 or myself would be of the faster boats in the group. But they definitely dont "race safe"

Turn it into a washing tub, and they arent afraid to "haul ass" through it...

shit changes fast at 85 vs what its like at 70

Agreed I have talked to a few and know the v drive guy. Always posting how he eats jet boat for breakfast when he only beat Johnny but a boat or two lol. Oh well all that are going have fun and be safe. I would try and go but going 2 weeks in a row to the river and unfortunately 110 ain't as cheap as 91 👎🏻

Thanks for the heads up on this. I don't expect I'll line up with any of them. I'm the overly cautious type.

When I met a bunch of you last year at your Elsinore get together it was obvious everyone there knew a bit about lining up and running hard. Anyone see that last episode of Street Outlaws with the top car getting wiped out? That shit cannot happen on the water!! No roll cages here.

I made some changes over the winter and this is my first opportunity to go open it up and see how it rides. Chris at B1 was kind enough to give me some great advice when I picked up my new loader from him. Since I went from a Rogers Bonneville to a Daytona I went with a real conservative set up. Now that I've had a season to run it and learn about it I loosened it up.

Nice day out...where is everyone?

Missed you. I was on the water by 7:30 and was able to do some testing, off about 9am. It was nice and calm, boat ran well, but by 9am it was to busy to make any passes. I'm still irritated at Auto Meter, bought a new GPS speedo in March, go to Parker in April and it doesn't work. Locks in then as soon as I start moving goes to no data, call tech support, they send me new antenna which I was skeptical about. Same thing today, if I'm sitting still it stays locked, as soon as I start to move no data.

Hey Dennis, I thought I saw a pic of yours and it looks very similar to mine. Did you have any issues or was it fine out of the box?

1st pic speedo, 2nd pic tach with antenna right on top out in the open.

Took some onsite depth readings which is the 3rd pic. WM (West Marine) 8ft reading was about 50 yards outside channel end. The 6ft reading was about 50 yards outside no wake bouys heading into the cove. The LL 14 ft reading was straight out off La Laguna ramp quite a ways out in the lake. The 15+ reading is because my 15 ft rope didn't touch bottom.

Water level is ok, although I'm not sure I want to go back. Every time I stopped I was swarmed by mosquito's and the water seems worse if that's possible.

Side note to brian777, I don't think that was Dennis. At least the video I saw wasn't him. Besides that if it was him it wouldn't have been a side by side race, he would have left everyone behind as soon as it started for a single wide exit.

No sign of any jet boat freaks by me today.

You got anything else to say? This is pretty much what I ment about the jet boat freaks deal. Like I mentioned about I met quite a few of them that were cool. Chet Ralph even gave chausa "my girlfriend" a shirt but also as I stated there were a few rude ones there that were there just to get Chet started

That was WILD for sure. Tripped me out.  I took that picture, then heard more boats coming. Then was watching the boat to the furthest East and was wondering when he was gonna lift because I knew it was super shallow right there and he stayed in it and jumped it lol. I heard the engine die down and all. It was a trip
