Whats the scoop on lake silverwood?
« on: May 19, 2010, 05:36:13 PM »
Mb black and I are going to roll this Sunday to test and tune our boats. Were both getting sick of smell-some-more getting blown out at 1 pm and puddingstone is out of the question since we can only go Sunday. We have never had our boats on the water there. Any info would be appreciated. We know about the inspection are prepared for that. If any one else wants to go you more than welcome.

I'm gonna give them a call tomorrow. Hopefully they aren't total Nazis! I really don't want to put my silencers on. That takes all the fun out of it!!! I'll let you know when I find out.

I think "Challenger" was gonna go to Elsinore this weekend. Maybe we can talk him into Silverwood if we end up going.

Sounds good Challenger. I'll post on here what the Silverwood people say. I've heard on here that they are strict. RomperStomper (Jimmy) said they wouldn't let him in because there were a couple drops of water out of his diverter.

Be there very early is my best advice.   The line forms early and they won't let you in when full until someone comes out.  If you guys decide on Elsie, post it up and I may roll out.
Also the final leg of the trip to Silverwood is tight mountainous roads, it will add some drive time.

Saturdays right now before 9 should be very smooth.  The wind normally won't blow until after 1pm.   Sundays are much busier.  It is supposed to be cooler this weekend and that will keep people home until later also.   Just get up earlier.   If you are there at 7 you will be all alone out on the water.   All that will change once the calender says June.

We can't do Saturday. We can do Sunday but there is NO way we could be there at 7 and I highly doubt we'd be able to get there by 9. We got out there around 1230 last Sunday but there were a few reasons for that. We should be able to get there around 10 though.

So here's the scoop on Silverwood.....according to the guy I talked to today from there.

As far as the inspection goes
-they will check inside the boat in ALL compartments for any water. In the ski locker (if you have one), under the seat cushions, in the engine        compartment, etc. Make sure your anchor and any rope you have is dry as well.
-you WILL need baffles for your headers :(
-they expect a full lake and suggest we either get there early OR we can make a reservation which guarantees us a spot on the water and we can cut in line. It costs $3 to make a reservation and we can do it online @ reserveamerica.com
-there is a 35mph speed limit on the lake

Looking ahead; as far as the weather goes...Sunday will be partly cloudy with an expected high of 65, winds out of the West at 14mph

Sunday @ the Elsinore Ocean...high of 73 with winds out of the West at 14mph

What do you think Jimmy?

Shit well I'm down to try and get to elsonore early. especially if others are going to roll. I really don't care witch lake we go to as long as we can get some smooth water. My back was killing me on monday from bouncing around the lake. I almost had to sleep on my floor. lol. getting there at 7 is a stretch for me but 8 or 9 can be do able. Sounds like silverwood will be packed and it is about another 30 mins on the drive. Plus the inspection. I'll go either way on this. Sounds like smellsomemore is our better bet to get on the water early with no hassel.

Yeah, I say we give Elsinore another shot. I like where we were at. Our boats were protected from the waves and it was a pretty cool spot to chill at. Plus no baffles and no inspection. It's supposed to be a little more windy than when we went by like 3mph...but hopefully its not bad. We should try to get there early because if we cant get our spot, we'd probably have to chill at the channel all day to have our boats sit in smooth water. What do you say about meeting at ur place at 8?

And Im sure your back took a beating after surfing those waves at 6000+ RPM! haha.

Sounds good. Yea 6000 rpm felt real good at the time. my boat handles better through chop at higher speeds with the roost up. My brother is not coming so I need to figure out how to make adjustments on my ecu through his laptop. It's about time I learn that anyway. that was the first time I've launched there and it is by far the best place for us. Lets do it  O0

Silverwood is not bad at all.  i went there last week to test out the boat and had no problems.  There is an inspection but the guy that did mine didn't have me take off any seat covers to check or remove anything.  He spent a couple of minutes looking in the motor compartment, asked a few questions and i was on my way.
And as far as baffles go, i have been there 4 times and have never had to run them.  I take them with me but never had to put them in.  And last time i was there, there was a park ranger on the ramp verifing that i went thru the inspection and that's all.  I ran the boat on the trailer in front of her for a few minutes and she never said anything.
THIS WAS ALL DONE ON A TUESDAY.   So this may be the reason as to why she wasn't worried about the noise.  Not too many people there to upset.   I have never been on a weekend tho, it's not the biggest lake and they let 150 or so boats/jet skis on the lake at one time and that's alot for the size.
IMO, silverwood is great during the week but terrible on weekends.  Just too many people.

I don't think they sweat the noise issue because there are no neighborhoods or houses to worry about .
I Think the only things they look for are things you should have anyways.
Very cool lake but get there early because a decent beach is hard to come by.
We used to get there at 3-4 am and there was already a line on the side of the road to get in.
So yes, reservations would be the way to go.
Show up whenever and pull on in.
