Title: Engine hatch
Post by: shark310 on June 13, 2016, 01:08:31 PM
I recently picked up a 1982 21' American Offshore open bow to restore and make a family boat. It has a AMC 360 & Panther jet. Everything works just needs new floor and upholstery. I'll be doing the work but I wanted to see if anyone had some pictures or ideas for the motor cover? I want to put a fiberglass scoop on it and wrap the rest.

I am doing the same with my interior. Here are the pics. I am soaking the fleece with resin, then smoothing it out. It attaches from inside the hatch after I cover the hatch with vinyl. I just haven't been home long enough to finish it. Lol. If you need more pics, just ask, I'm always happy to help.

I dig the shape of the scoop... though I can't say I'm a fan of the door hinges, were those already there or was that your call?

Your Mom,
I like the hinge set up you have. Did you need to reinforce the backside of them under the glass?

Looks good. I like where they put the speakers. Do you have a latch or just pull up the hatch?

I used a small piece of aluminum on the inside of hull for hinges.

I wanted the speakers like that so they project out the back of the boat. My hatch just pulls up, no latch
