So I'm building a big block chevy for my boat over the winter and want to put a blower on but am debating between a 1-77 or a 6-71 does anybody have any input in differences other than size? Pros and cons? Thanks!

Do you have both already or do you need to buy everything?
If you need to buy everything still, consider a centrifugal supercharger. I feel that a centrifugal supercharger is best suited to jet boats.
Positive displacement blowers, that produce off-idle power, tend to blow the pump dry and be difficult to launch.
You can gear a centrifugal supercharger so that it is operating at its ideal RPM, corresponding to the engine's RPM at peak horsepower, and the RPM for which the jet pump impeller is cut. Basically, the efficiency and operating range of a centrifugal supercharger matches that of the jet pump, giving you the power when it is most usable.
The weight distribution of a centrifugal supercharger could also be more favorable than a positive displacement.
Cheers,
Joe
