I can remember back when fuel was $0.20 cents a gallon and it smelled cool!
yesterday's engines will not perform well on what you get from the pump today PERIOD!!
" I have people come in all the time.... they had their engine built somewhere and they
say it does not perform well".
1. don't put the carriage ahead of the horse and blame your engine builder.
2. find a carb. and ignition specialist and have them calibrated based on your engine spec.sheet.
3. this needs to be done before, NOT AFTER you fire up your new engine.
4. also, engine oil today, has a lack of zinc... camshaft failure by various cam grinders
and engine builders blame cam failure on this.... and I agree.
we are limited to restrictions and they will impact the way these engines perform.
" just do your best to protect your engine by proper tuning and break-in, oil & fuel."

I have done some research and it seems TORCO has one of the highest zinc contents out of all of the oils I have looked into!

Someone told me that Chevron Dalo is good to use because of zinc

We use Torco oils and are dealer for Torco oils ,products and Torco Race gas (oil company's actually different co from the fuel) they have straight weight and multi grade race oil in synthetic and "non" ,they also have "breakin oil" that ,among other uses they recommend for the "change over" huge additive pkgs ! good stuff ,Great folks ( a little spendy) heres a link.. or you can order from us lots of other good stuff like assy lubes ...Tom

I ran Castrol 20 50 in everything religously for years but its my understanding that most all the oils readily available at parts stores (even Kendall) have drastically reduced or eliminated the additve packages (zinc ,moly, etc) to drop the counter prices . so we started using Shell rottela or Chevron delo (diesel grade ,high additives) and Torco in the Race hot rod stuff Tom
And ps WOW I can only remember gas at around 29.9 per !! but I also remember working at Standard (chevron) where we had Red ,Blue and White pumps all were leaded but the white was 104 octane ,ran 12.5 to one in my second SS 409 Impala 8)

Yes ! also good stuff !

Alot of the companies out there that used to have high zinc content quietly dropped there zinc content , including big name like royal purple. Torco also makes cat friendly good oils , and just a zinc addative if you are just running regular oil and still want high zinc.

Most diesel oils still have zinc.

i run mobil 1 synthetic diesel oil in my truck it has some special -4 property the engine needs and lucas additive as well in all my engines...and i run RBP performance fuel additive for the gas tank.
