Gentlemen!
I've searched a bit and haven't found anything. If there is a post I missed, please forgive me :banghead:
I've been "boating" with family most of my life, although never owned my own until now!
I'm looking for a list of essentials to keep on the boat. ie. tools, spare hoses, clamps, zip ties etc. As well as first aid/emergency stuff (maybe a foam football for stuffing a hole if something catastrophic happened, learned from someone else's bad experience lol.
This topic may have already been beaten to death. But if it has, I haven't been able to find it.
Any takers?

foam football is a great idea i never thought of that one
i carry a small first aid kit, some basic hand tools. Stuff to open a fuel filter, change plugs, phillips/flat head screwdrivers, extra spark plugs, some towels, a portable battery jumper pack (ill get a link), maybe a couple extra parts if they are small/things that can ruin a day.
I carry extra fuses and an extra relay or two.
Maybe carry some marinetex if you have a hole or crack.

Foam football worked well, I was young so not sure what exactly happened but a 3" diameter hole opened up on the transom and water was pouring in while we were idling into the channel in havasu. It got us far enough to beach it until a better solution was found. Surprisingly that foam football worked super well.
I've got tools set up, including mini jumper. Thanks for all the other input!

Always make sure the coolers stocked in case you have a longer than intended float back haha

Brother, regardless of situations, the cooler will always be overstocked.

I'm assuming the $20 is for waving to gather the attention of potential helpers? or is that what the wife is for? lol

Spare plug. Just say in

As in hull drain plug? Must be a story behind that one.

Yes a spare plug for the hull. I carry 2 extras

Not personally but was at the green drink years ago and a guy and his girlfriend pulled up in his brand new big bitchin boat freaking out that he forgot his plug and was sinking. Told him would be ok while moving so borrowed some personal items from his girlfriend to plug the hole and off he went

Wow that must have been a hell of a conversation. Poor guy must've lost half his dignity on that trip.

Ya that was one for the books

God forbid you need a tow, it's def a thumbs up from me if I got a twenty spot for the tow. 👍🏻

Charging for a tow is a no no. BAD karma

Beer and boobs

I had the bahner out in needles one trip. Blew the coupler out of it (io).
Tried my best to make it back to jack smith from topock.
Made it about a mile past pirates cove. And it finished itself. Luckily made it to the beach and the family next to us offered a tow.
I told him up front all I had was 100 cash on me.
They said that's cool.
Well by the time we got to jack smith. And I gave them the 100. They were pissed I only gave them 100
I shortly after signed up for vessel assist. Best 70 a year ever spent

Wow. I'd be happy with $10 and a beer for a tow. You're still out on a boat and your boat isn't broken, why complain when someone offers money?

I'm not saying I'd charge for a tow but if I were stranded and someone helped me out I'm sure even if they were to tow for free they'd be grateful for a $20 after all that's another case of beer 🍺🙌🏻
Let's say you tow someone without wanting anything from them and they offered you compensation of some sort as a thank you. You'd turn that down?

No absolutely no just don't require it didn't mean it that way. I feel if I don't help someone out of a bad situation l can't except it in return. By all means I would compensate someone but don't expect to pay for there weekend
