Title: 460 mech fuel pump
Post by: GeneralLee on July 05, 2014, 04:46:20 PM
Hey fellas getting ready to fire this thing up and try to have it running on the hose. Came with a 460 bbf...I'm a chevy guy so I have no clue where to look for a block number on this motor.

She came with a electric fuel pump and the mech fuel pump has been blocked off. The electric gave out on me, shocker, so I'd like to throw in a mechanical which is super reliable and bullet proof in my opinion not to mention will provide more the. Enough fuel for this stocker. Not to mention the mechanical pump is 30 bucks and a decent electric is 140...not including the fuel pressure regulator and plumbing. I like the KISS theory.

My question I guess would be what year make and model of ford do I give to the local car parts guy, autozone o'reilly or napa in order to get the right fuel pump?

Just called the local auto parts store and he told me only one mech pump that'll fit the bbf and it's 25 bucks air tech makes it...does that sound right?

You need to make sure the eccentric is on the cam gear or it won't pump... go with a clay Smith pump for around a 100 bucks. It will be the last pump you buy
