Title: 5 wide pic
Post by: hotrod56cars on March 11, 2007, 10:42:15 AM
I saw a pic I liked a lot but it didn't seem quite right for what I wanted to use it for. So I "photoshopped" it to make it right for me. It's my new PC destop's background. Thought I would share it in case anyone wanted it...

Ralph , I hadn't realized that it did it again . Maybe rick can correct me on this but I think he said that when he talk to Jack McLure @ MPD , Jack told him to move the motor 12 inches further forward . Is that gonna help that at all ?

that was the first heat on sunday at the start i think i cought a roller because it happend when they dropped the green and i stomped on it. i'm going to try and put a fuel cell up in the center of the boat. my stringers are cut down so i cant move the motor unless i install new stringers and thats not happening >:(

"... I think he said that when he talk to Jack McLure @ MPD , Jack told him to move the motor 12 inches further forward ..."

I know a RWD mid engine car is more likely to spinout than a RWD forward or rear engine car.

So if you move the engine forward in a boat isn't that putting more of the weight distribution on the front which would cause the front to "dive" more which would make it more likely to spinout? If more of the weight is on the back isn't it more likely to go straight and not dive?

Yes and no . From what people have told me and from what I have seen , a circle jet has a skeg some where in the middle of the hull and that is supposed to aid in the boat turning . By adding weight closer to the skeg you kind of use the skeg as a pivot point versus trying to swing the ass of the boat around at 70 mph . We're tryin to produce the same turning characteristics as a v-drive . We all know how well those turn and they are set up the same way . I wish you could have seen that cruiser goin into the corners at WOT , it was a sight to see ! I could be completely wrong as to the set up of a CJ , but thats what I've been seeing .

i think omar covered all the bases exept one. that one is the diverter if you look at my boat it rides real wet i think i need to adjust the diverter going into the turns and down the straight. my only problem is that i'm really nervous about taking one hand off the steering wheel, so i need more practice and maybe a hydrolic diverter.

the first time it hooked my ride plate was set flat and when i was getting off the gas setting up for the corner the bow came down and then hooked. after the adjustment 3 degrees up and removeing the down wedge from the nozzle she rode better. but once again i need to use the diverter. it's all a learning curve, it was the first time i raced so no testing was done with the set up

Thats funny that you say that Ralph . Rick called me mid week or so and I told him that it never occured to me to adjust my diverter goin into the turns . Soooo , I thought about putting two stops on the diverter handle .
1. At the mid point where I run in the straights .
2. Where I would run it in the turns to push the bow down .
