i want to go somewhere to do a quick test to make sure everythings good and proper before memorial day.  would like to not get hassled by anyone about sound, sobriety checks, etc.  wheres the best place to go?  im sure my gf will prolly want to try a ski or wakeboard or something.  i was thinking castaic or pyramid but then i see a few horror stories about 35mph boating in a circle type crap.  prolly try to head out sunday.

supposed to rain out here (castaic) this weekend. but you shouldnt be too bad with the lake it is to capacity so the only real beach is waaaaayyyy back in elizabeth canyon. If you are drinking be extra carefull because there are hidden cameras on the lake(shore) now that can zoom in to see fly shit on rice(apparently) but the lake is still a good lake to go to and just chill. the speed shouldnt be an issue either as long as you are not being overly blatant about it, I personally do a couple WFO passes everytime I take my boat out, which is about every sunday oncd it warm up. If you want to avoid the popo all together try hitting the lake durring the week, due to budget cuts there are normally no cops on the lake durring the week

do they do any checks or anything?  i got my extinguisher, bunch of lifejackets, whistle, etc... i think im covered.

I'm not going to say no but there is always the possibility. I personally have never been checked. They might check your cooler if they want to be a dick but i doubt it. like I said just be sneeky about it. The ony thing is they Will ask you when and where the last time the boat was in the water, because of the quaga muscle crap. just tell them that you just built the boat and that your are putting in the water fpr the first time. If you are going to go to Castaic I suggest using the west ramp, it is less crowded, not as steep and in nicer/calmer water normally.

Make sure that your bilge is dry.  Don't wash the boat the morning you take it out unless you plan on drying it completely.  Any water in the boat can be enough reason for them to stop you from launching.

Really? hmmmm never heard of that, I'll have to keep that in mind because I usually hose and wipe my rig off before I head up to the lake.
