Hello All,
Past couple of times I have taken the barge out, I have air locked the pump on the launch. I have changed a few different things on the set up so not sure what exactly has allowed this to now happen. Not too big of a deal, but wondering if anyone else suffers from it or if there are certain techniques on launching to help prevent it. Reverse bucket up? Down? Any advice will be appreciated.

Just be patient with it....rev it up a couple of times - nothing violent. it will clear out within a bout 20-30 seconds tops.

Eliminate having to rev the engine after putting boat in water due to pump being air locked. This is a must for drag racers, as it's a common problem with running a droop snoot. This installs by Drilling and tapping the top side of the bowl about 2.5" back from suction housing flange.

Mine air locks every time. I found that dunking the boat once or twice normally helps things along. I also dunk it after a long tow, to get all the road junk out of the intake. Also as Brad said, be patient it does clear itself.

Same here, we usually put the diverter up with the bucket open to try and burp it.
I think dunking the jet in the water a couple times after towing is a good idea as well as the prime a jet. :thumbup:

Thanks guys, fortunately I have been doing as Brad recommends, just slowly bringing it up til it clears out. I will try bringing the diverter up next time out and seeing if that helps out as well. :thumbup:

This happened to me when we put in, in the red's Hallet Vector at site 6 in Havasu, I unhooked the water inlet out of the pump that goes to the the engine ( set back pump of corse) it huffed out a bunch of air and then hooked it back up and it worked. Site 6 seems to be known for this

I had this issue and it took about 2 to 5 minutes (no joke) for the pump to fill up with no air. It was a pain cuz you have no control of the boat. So the problem ended up being my split bowl gasket leaking. A good 1 inch chunk of gasket gone. I fixed it and my boat instantly primes up before the boat gets off the trailer. So if its excessive and the pump hasnt had some recent tlc. Check the pump for small leaks. After the 5 minutes with that crappy gasket... my boat ran fine. Which was weird cuz thats a big leak :screwy:

Come on guys...
Easiest fix in the bag of tricks...
Put the boat in the water running and go a little deep in the water and pull it forward a little. Takes two seconds at the most.
The race boat would literally no prime itself, used to have to point the boat upriver and hammer the gas to get it to burp...
They do make the little bleeders, but not always needed.

An old post but i this may help some people from floating around the launch ramp powerless until the pump primes.
All you have to do is while the boat is on the trailer and in the water, open up the your garden hose hook up valve.
keep venting untill the water starts coming out steady, then shut'r off.
fire up the boat and your good to go, works like a champ
I was going to do the prime-a-jet thing but i found this out by accident...
brand new prime a jet for sale now....30 bucks shipped.

Drill it in the very top, angled back, so you can have a little tiny rooster tail like the old Yamaha sit down jet skis.
