Title: am i f'd?
Post by: 88CARRERA on August 12, 2010, 03:03:01 PM
the front of my trailer broke off while driving down the freeway, the bar that hold the bow hook broke off and the little rubber v that holds the boat and the 6 foot bar broke off. then guess what. Fucked up the bottom of the boat ripped the bow hook out and hit the rudder. now the jetovator doesnt work. i dont know how long it was broken for and it beat the shit out of the boat. I called progressive and they said the trailer wont be covered because it is probably rusty. they are coming to check it out soon. I sure hope this gets hadled properly. any good glass shops i can take it to in riverside area i want it done right!!!!!!!! :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

I had a insurance company tell me that my trailer is covered , but not the cargo on the trailer so you might want to check with your insurance carrier!

I have AAA for my auto ins. my agent told me in no uncertain terms that ONLY my trailer is covered, and only liability. not the cargo, in thid case my boat. you have Progressive, get ready to pay 100% of it out of pocket

Belive you'll find that most carriers will cover your liability when towing  , eg your towed trailer does damage to  another vehicle or property etc , but coverage won't be "comprehensive" for damage to your towed trailer or contents , could be wrong here Tom

btw IF your boat and trailer are finananced for example chances are good that the insurance your required to carry to pay  protect the lenders interest  will fix any/all, comp collision etc

they said the boat is covered, but the trailer would have been covered but they said it broke because of age and rust??? they said they are covering the boat though.

Consider yourself lucky! Trailers are cheaper then the boat anyway....

Are they repairing or totaling it out?

Now you need to make sure Tommy notes the irreparable damage to the hydraulic Place unit, droop snoot, half a dozen wedges, and all the custom work needed to repair the setback pump, ride and cav plates........... >:D

It's a shame all that work you did blueprinting the bottom of that hull has to be redone huh?   :sly:

My thoughts exactly Ray, that's why if my motor goes south again its gonna accidently take on water. Oops. Gotta love stated value. On a different note, its a lot easier to build a new trailer than a new boat

I had a trailer do the same thing but luckily it did so on the ramp in teh water as I was pulling the boat off. Broke clean in half. I was daamn lucky it didnt do it on the highway!
