I hear ya, I drive a 99 Expedition, and now goin to buy a new F250 Diesel, with diesel way more than reg gas but watcha gonna do......keep drivin and dont complain......aint no one gonna listen anyhow....LOL ;D

I have a friend that just sold his 04 tacoma 13k and picked up an 01 GMC Z71 to tow his boat with and also bought alate 90's honda civic as a comuter . I thought to myself . Twice the registration , 8 tires , they are both gonna need oil changes , insure both , so on and so forth . I guess I must be the crazy one then . ???

20 miles 1 way and ill stick with my beast and then the new one shortly ya notice I said "1" no way gonna spend the bucks for 2 rides, cant save any money that way :screwy:

I thought I would chime in and let everyone know that I work out of my home, I have a company truck, the maintence is paid for by the company, they pay the insurance, and they gave me a gas card for my company truck. I love my job.

My wife has been driving my Colorado more and leaving the Tahoe to me because of fuel costs. She's driving about 50 miles round trip compared to my 15, but it is making a difference in total fuel costs.
She has been talking about wanting to trade in the Colorado for a Hybrid Toyota/Honda, I don't know that it will make that much difference once you figure in the vehicle payments and everything else. :banghead:
I think I need to put my foot down and not allow any driving that is not required >:D unless it has to do with repairing or using the boat ;D

I drive all over town (just goes with the job) but when I have to drive to henderson (about 30 miles) I take the wifes pathfinder instead of my Titan. I see a noticable difference in what we spend in gas, ruffly saving 8-10 gallons a week at $3.30/gallon.

had to park Ford crew cab dully diesel $3.85 gal $3.18 reg now have to drive Bronco 302 4x4 gas mileage is a little better going to buy permit from Indians $80 and launch in river save drive to lake 4 miles be low Avie no crowed to fight with , boat gets good mileage know but may add trans soon 454BBC Chev soon to be ford with auto flat bottom 5 miles to river love

I'm pissed about it but certainly not worried about it for Jan and I. Diesel has hit 4.19 here in town..groan
With that said, I do worry about how my kids can pull it off cuz they're just starting out and don't quite have the disposable income we all do.

After reading all these posts I am amazed at the common sense that we are using . Good work guys . Keep your foot out of it . My truck that I use exclusivley for work does not move otherwise . I spend a little bit of extra money to get good tires so they last longer , I also get the insurance they offer . Within 2 months two the tires got screws in them and were no longer any good (I had to change one tire on the freeway once) and because I insured them , each tire was free and the only thing I paid for was to insure the new tire $15 each time . I guess (with me anyways) everytime my wallet gets in a pinch I learn to stretch my dollar a little futher . Hell , I dont even rev my Tahoe above 2K rpm around town anymore .

We did the calcs based on 3.50 a gallon, using our mileage we drive a year.
To break EVEN, we got to buy a $13,000 car that got 28 MPG. Obviously, a little more mileage meant a hair more money to spend, but remember this is the BREAK EVEN point. So really we were looking at driving a used POS buzzbox to save what we would spend on a bottle of wine at dinner.
No, I don't like spending $70 a fill up vs $50, but it isn't the end of the world either (they canceled the whole global warming thing)

I got a 05 Chevy 2500 4x4 that i'm parking until i have to pull my boat to the lake.Been riding my Harley to work ,but it sill cost $18 bucks to filler up.It wasn't that long ago when it took 8 to fillit up.Times are changing boys either pay up or quit playing,it sucks but what are you gonna do when your hobbies depend on fuel.

Man, isn't this the truth. I remember with Jan and I were younger and we had a bitchin blazer that was so damn cool. It was even the first in town to have Radials as big as 12.50's by 33's. That thing was sick but being younger we listened to all the hype in the 70's about fuel prices and gave it away wth less than 30K on the clock and bought a pisser. Now when I think back at what the price of that pisser was and how much we both took it in the ass to "unload" that blazer, I kick myse cuz I could have bought enough gas to get me into the 80's. Now 30 years later they're trying to do it to us again and I'm not gonna do it. Give away a damn good truck and then pay up the butt for a pisser just to save some gas mileage. The math doesnt jive to pay top dollar for a pisser and give away a good truck.
With that said, I sure am glad Jan and I had a chance to come south last year and actually meet Rhonda, Josh and Ol what's his name in person...
As far as the Global Warming thing, It pretty much has snowed every damn day for a week...... Didn't amount to much but "warming" implies....warm and it certainly isnt that up here. We should be turning the corner and yet I had to scrape the windows again this moring... :banghead:

I drive two vehicles to save gas. My taoma sits most of the time, but my VW bug gets me around town. Both are paid for tho..... My wife drives a Hybrid too, so we are sittin ok on the gas prices. Once the boats in the water tho it'll be a different story.
