Anchoring and tie up at the beach? What's the best way.

Ok guys another question. How the hell do guys anchor their boats at the shore or beaches. I see some guys just beach their boats and some guys anchor them with the nose pointing out with i assume a anchor away from shore and rope onto shore holding the rear. I would like to do it that way, I just had the boat painted and don't want it all scratched up. But I don't think I have the right anchor or really don't know what I'm doing. Any advice would be great.....

If you are at the river I know alot of the guys use box anchors for the bow and rope going from the stern to the shore. I always just used a claw anchor at the lake. Hope this helps.

I keep mine anchored at both ends. I have a self hammer anchor for the front(slim in size and all the way down till nothing but the eye if under water. I use a swivel tossable one for the back. I dont beach mine anymore.....

X2 just bow out. and automatic bilge pump. I learned that lesson the hard way this weekend.......... I left her on the beach and woke up to her ass on the bottom and the transom completely under water.... fired up the bilge floated her to the trailer pulled all the plugs and drained the oil and was back on the water by noon...

Thats what I did to my last boat left it on the beach in Havasu. Got drunk and woke up to a bath tub

Not in to beaching anymore vary traumatized.

Anyone got any pics of their anchors? This is mine but It won't hold the boat. Its got a 13 on it (is that weight?) is it to small for a 21' boat?

Thats the same anchor I run the trick is it needs a chain. I run about 5 feet of chain and have zero problems.

Here's a pic from Havasu a couple of weeks ago. I still have the old style danford anchor like the one posted with some chain.
Transoms are not secured in these pics. Wind was blowing so we just let the stern drift

Depends where you are and what kinda boat you've got. If you've got about 2" of the stern out of the water like I do....anchor it bow out.

At BR, I generally just grab a buoy that nobody's using....if it belongs to someone and they need it...I'll gladly move. If it's not packed, I just tie off the bow and let the boat dangle downriver. If it's packed, I get a stern line.

I've used anchors like you posted up in the river with a decent current, you just gotta drop it right then pull it a bit to set it in the bottom.

I made 2 of these. They are stored in a capped tube so I do not spear anyone or anything. One for the bow and one for the transom. I have little float-ies tied to them so people do not step on them at the sand bar. They are also painted yellow. They go in the sand like butter.
