Title: Any electricians?

Bought my Dad a welder, it needs 50 amps though and his 240v only has a 30 amp breaker. I don't know what size wiring he has so I don't want to just swap a larger breaker in his box. The breaker box is also about 75+ feet from the plug. Any advice?

Add a sub panel with the proper size wire for 50a circuit plus the run to the plug.  If you have an open spot big enough for a 50a breaker in the main panel you could do this with out a sub panel.
