Title: Anyone ever owned one?
Post by: Warlock on November 02, 2007, 12:00:05 PM
Has anyone ever owned one of these? I have wanted one for a long time and think I have fallin' in love...Kinda freaked out over the VW motor though... http://www.atvtraderonline.com/caddetail.html?/ad-cache/5/0/5/88753305.htm

looks pretty nice, i would not worry about the vw motor as long as it is done right, there has been a mid travel manx here in phx for sale for awhile, a little less $$$ i think, will see if i can find the link for you, worse case, convert it to a v8 ;D >:D

I've wanted a real Manx for a long time, but when they have come up I haven't had funding  :'(

That one looks very cool but 17k is a lot of money for a VW  :o

I had that same size motor in my streetcar for a while. nonturbo was wicked fast....11.5 in quarter w. a geared trans 1600lb car without my bigfat azz....funtimes, vw motors are easier to work on then weedwacker outboards....i would so love to have one of those manx....multipurpose car..add paddles for a sand car, add dirt tires for offroad or slicks for a dragcar...

heres a pic of my street machine

Can anyone photoshop? I'd like ta' see this pic with 4 '59 caddy tail lights with a maltese cross in the white space on the side of the top and a shifter almost all the way to the top, black primer, red wheels with a few spider webs thrown about...Maybe even a German helmet spike sticking outta the top.  Don't know if anyone knows how to but that might be the plan...Test drove it today and it ran perrrrfect.  ;D[attachimg=#]

When i got my sand cruiser i wish it would have been street legal, i had to tow it everywhere. I was going to make it street legal but the way the windshield would have been installed would have been ghetto.

Yep i sold it :( and i told myself next one im going to get is  going to be just like yours ;D

Nice score Warlock and dont be nervous about it being cheap cause in the long run it aint cheap. But its fun
Here's a bad pic all i could find of it :( :(

If the motor detonates, it's just a great excuse to get a nice 2.5 litre that'll smoke everything on the street

Now you need to bring it and yourself with me to the Baja 1000 >:D  My 4x4 club is leaving early Monday morning to head to Ensanada for contingency.  Then we are going to El Alamo to set up camp and watch the race on Tues.  You could have a blast with that thing down there, plenty of trails to ride around on before and after the race....

Hear that a Subaru 2.5 is like a water cooled version of a VW...That would be killa dilla! >:D

With all that money you saved, go get yourself the supercharged 2.0 cobalt motor from Chevy! Theyre only like $3000... 200HP 200Lb/ft
all in a package that only weighs something like 385 pounds with the tranny attached....

My buddy just put one in his rail and loves it...Well, Me and my buddy climbed in the fun buggy and did a 125 mile trip 100 of it through the dirt and sand and she ran got as hell....Handles like a dirt sports car! Couldn't be happier  ;D Kept up with the long travels no problemo..Even passed one  8) Got her up to 82 on I-10..Got home and did some research and I was only about half throttle the whole time and some moron put a carb gasket that was too small....Nothin' a $100 parts house spree can't fix! >:D I am a renewed Volkswagon fan and NEVER thought I would say that after my last rail... :D

An old guy I work worth has a near 250HP VW for sale... Has a couple Glamis trips on it. FAST son-of-a-bitch. He built it to withstand the rigorous life of a turbo-charged engine, but at the last minute put it up at 9.5:1 and is happy with that. If you want more info, he's looking to sell, his wife has cancer and he's at the retirement age. I'd be more than happy to spend a few minutes with him to get some motor info/price. I'm pretty sure he wants to sell the entire buggy. VERY WELL BUILT.
