So, what did they decide for this one....spark plugs that self eject or spark plugs that seize in the heads?

You know what would win my $$?... A full size, basic, no frills truck for less than $25,000.   Basic means no nav, no 17 way adjustable memory power seats, no cameras pointing in ever direction....just a goddam truck.  Kinda like my 97 C1500 but not worn out.  Oh yeah...and I want a key to start the damn thing....not a button.  Why can't they do that?

THIS....is why I bought MY truck  ....... And it was still expensive! When did pick-ups become Urban Limo's anyway? 1990 or so?

Yeah, don't need all that junk. Enough room and power to tow and haul what I want, and not Uber-expensive that I'm afraid to use it for what it is. Don't need power leather koochie heating seats or carpet, powered remote heated mirrors, On-Star or on-board GPS, any of that. The remote cameras on Aunt's GMC I find more annoying than anything else, among other things.

Mine does have power windows, mirrors and locks, which are nice, but totally unnecessary. I have lock-out hubs, a real lever on the transfer case, vinyl floors and cloth seats. Cleaning it out involves a garden hose just like back in the day. Spray in liner is half gone, bed dented up on the inside because I use it as a TRUCK! Probably 10-15 tons of gravel hauled in it thus far, among other things.

I don't know if you haters bothered to watch the video but Ford has incorporated some very user friendly features into this truck.  Ramps to load ATV's that can be used as steps up into the bed?  F'n awesome !  A rack  for ladders, lumber, pipe etc.?  Don't tell me you shortbed owners wouldn't like that on occassion.  Factory retracting running boards?  C'mon y'all aren't 6'6" like me, I've seen ya struggle to get up into yer trucks.  And then all the "outside the box" thinking to get better gas mileage . . . y'all bitch about 12 mpg in your gassers.  I know I do.  Complicated?  Sure, but none of you want 4 cylinders and the government keeps forcing ever higher mpg and safety standards on us.  Detroit HAS TO comply.
For you vinyl floor mat 6 cylinder bitches, all the truck makers still offer this kind of rig.  Dodge's single cab 6 cylinder with the 8 speed is now getting 26 mpg on the highway.  If you are OK with minimal creature comforts you can still buy for under $19,000 from Mother Mopar.  I assume Ford and Chevy offer similar stripper models.  You can have all the wet dreams you want over 3 speed manuals and metal dashboards, but neither of those things are possible in today's market.  And if they had been so fantastic y'all would never have sold them.
This show was supposed to be a coming out party for the Corvette and the Silverado.  One was an overwhelming success and one got shown to be a sad also ran.   Cry if you need to.

Hey Gord, did you notice the pic in your link?  Dodges must be bad ass.  A dualie 1500,  whoulda thunk

Couple years ago I found a nice 2006 Chevy 1500 extended cab....   4wd (NO  push button style...on the floor shift..). Rubber floor mats.... No power windows/seats/mirrors/ door locks......etc.

No 100.00 key fob either.  Although I do have to remember where I park and sometime do a bit of wandering in the local walmart parking lot.  ;0)

HD tow pkg/tyranny & oil cooler...etc.

 And I love it.

No carpet to worry about getting wet.... No drivers side power window to fix ( Every vehicle I've ever owned, new or used the driver side power window has crapped out).

I personally think trucks in general these days are going beyond what they need to be but at the same time you gotta remember that manufactures are trying to sell trucks in a market that most people don't need em. So essentially they are trying to sell trucks in a car market and seem to be successful at it. That guy that drives a honda civic because its practical can now buy a truck that's just as practical and economic but now has a truck. Just the way it goes.

But as for myself I will continue to drive my 84 k5 blazer and my 99 f250 7.3 powerstroke. Why? Because I love the fact that my k5 will go anywhere I need it to not worrying about a scratch or dent and I can do all the repairs myself with no computer needed for diagnostics. And my f250 which is the xlt power everything and cloth seats and carpeted floors is nice because I can put the family in it comfortably and at the same time tow anything I want throw anything in the bed I want and not give a dam. And my favorite, the loud obnoxious clacking from the 7.3 diesel that is so loud on the highway that it could drown out the noise of bickering kids and a nagging wife.........man I love my truck.
