Hey fellas got some questions, my wife and I are entertaining the idea of dragging the ole float out to maybe the parker area. We're from Missouri and would like to experience the jet boat Mecca per say lol. We're also thinking about moving out that direction, the Midwest winters are getting rather old. So what are some good areas to check out run the boat and possibly what are some good areas to call home?

Parker is my all time favorite, but that's because my family has a lot of history there, it's rough ride in a low profile boat and you have to know how to dock and anchor a low profile boat properly there. For better water conditions for low profile jets Blythe and other areas of the lower river are the way to go if your really looking to run. Laughlin is cool given the night life after a day on the water, but watch out for rental jet ski traffic. Then you have the big lakes (Mojave, Mead, Powell) also can be super rough more due to weather. But I can say in all my travels Lake Powell is the most beautiful place iv ever seen.
As far as living, I'm in Surprise Az about 45 min north west of downtown Phoenix and it's very nice and the Phoenix area has a few local lakes definitely worthy of day trips in between river trips

Oh and of course theres Havasu, but honestly I don't go much anymore, too many rich ass holes in massive boats and 5 different entities of law enforcement in full force. But I can totally understand wanting to see it if you've never been

Awesome thanks for the info I'd really like to check out parker but I have a low profile jet and wasn't sure how rough it is. I'm not looking to race around but more cruising finding some sand bars and hanging out with some folks. We drove out there 5 years ago and bought our jet and I really liked Arizona. It was like 75 in February out there when we went, big change from low 20s here lol

Im from missouri as well. St.peters to be exact and i hear ya about the winters man...its miserable right now. But anyways, i went out there once last year to get a boat and once this year to get a different on. One of my favorite places was needles. We put in at pirates cove and went down river through the gorge. It is absolutely beautiful!!!

I'm have no idea how you guys handle those winters. If it gets below 70 I'm not happy lol. Hope that info helped some. I like needles as well and the gorge is a neat area to hang out and boat watch/people watch and it is pretty damn cool looking. More than anything Parker is one of the few busy places left that somewhat has that old school feel still. There was a river code where people were respectful and helped out one another that's just totally disappeared in Havasu (my opinion). Plus I love pulling up to the old bars having a drink and the best is going when the locals are out super cool people

I appreciate all the info guys I'm really looking forward to come out there sometime. We have the same river code here on the mighty Missouri river but we only get about 5 to 6 months of river time. But I think it would be cool to boat most of the year and ride the Harley too!

That's crazy, iv only been in snow a handful of times ever I couldn't imagine. All growing up we always ran to the river all year long. Cold on the water at times, we found that sleeping bags work wonders it's popular with the girls in our group for winter boating lol

The extreme cold is hard to take until you realize the cost of perfect weather all year long! The only homeless we have are ski bums that live in tents and campers spring summer and fall then take the winter off to ski and go to south america to surf. Crime is extremely low and most of what we do have is alcohol related. I just had to write this to remind myself why I'm freezing my ass of. Spring summer and fall make up for the winter! As far as places to check out, I haven't found a bad one yet from Powell on down the river!
-
I hear ya the summers here are great but we don't get snow like we used to. So winter sports don't really exist and makes for some cold long winters lol

I know what you mean, I was going to buy a new sled this year since I sold my sled last year and barrowed the last half of the season, but I'm glad I didn't spend the coin! Winter is about making money for spring summer and fall. Lucky enough to get to powell once a year, Havasu once a year and go surfing in socal several times a year. Hoping to make lake Shasta as well this year. Have to work sometime and winter might as well be it. Hoping to run up to Hover Dam this year during the Havasu trip, I hear it's awesome!
-
Sounds like there's a lot of fun to be had out there. When we drove out to get our current boat I drove right past Havasu, but didn't have time to stop and sure wish I would have!

Ive been going to the river for ever. usaully during the hot summers i would stay in Laughlin. when im out i launch at Needles marina. they have a great park. full hookups at every site if you like to camp, pool, spa, laundry, grass areas, docks, gas, and air if tires get low. the ramp can get slick during the summer. i always go there when i camp. very friendly. i launch there 99% of the time and run the river south all the way to havasu. plentty deep. best part is i very rarlly see jet ski renters down that far.
-
Man that sounds like fun I really need to get out there!

By the way, I know it's winter time when everyone visits out here, always welcome by for a beer. Even though you like Ford's I'll still serve you lol. Just don't say you drink anything Bud

I love needles! My favorite part of the river. We launch at jack Smith and head either up or down river. Up is more shallow and great for jets. Plus laughlin ain't for if you like to gamble or need a hotel. We've had our place in bullhead city for over 20 years now and I couldn't go anywhere else. You have all the amenities of a bigger city without the craziness of Havasu or parker.
