I know that more than a few of you live in the Phoenix metro area, I got a pretty good job offer and would like to hear some of your real, honest to God, no bullshit opinions. This would be a big move for me & the family so any help is appreciated.

I lived in Peoria which isnt too far from downtown Phoenix. I lived there for almost 2 years. The summers are brutally hot. Monsoon season is awesome. The winters get cold. Alot of meth heads and hookers in downtown. I didnt really like living there. Parker is only 3 hours away though. Good luck.

The wife and I looked at some houses in Chandler a few years ago. Wasnt too bad from what I could tell. Pretty flat land compared to what I am used to. Karen's sister and brother-in-law live in Peoria and seem to like it. They moved there from the bay area so deffintly a change in climate. He is an FBI agent in Phoenix so I could hook you up with him if you want to talk someone directly that REALLY knows " the good, the bad, the ugly". Let me know ;)

getting used to the heat is taking longer than I expected.***
*July 15th**Fell asleep by the community pool (Got 3rd degree burns over 60%
of my body). Missed 3 days of work. What a dumb thing to do. I learned my
lesson though. Got to respect the ol' sun in a climate like this.***
*July 20th**I missed Lomita (my cat) sneaking into the car when I left this
morning. By the time I got to the hot car at noon, Lomita had died and
swollen up to the size of a shopping bag, then popped like a water balloon.
The car now smells like Kibbles and shits. I learned my lesson though. No
more pets in this heat. Good ol' Mr. Sun strikes again.***
*July 25th**The wind sucks. It feels like a giant freaking blow dryer!!***
*And it's hot as hell. The home air-conditioner is on the fritz and the AC
repairman charged $500 just to drive by and tell me he needed to order
parts.***
*July 30th**Been sleeping outside on the patio for 3 nights now. $350,000
house and I can't even go inside. Lomita is the lucky one. Why did I ever
come here?***
*Aug. 4th**It's 115 degrees. Finally got the air-conditioner fixed today. It
cost $1,500 and gets the temperature down to 85. I hate this stupid state.**

*Aug. 8th**If another wise ass cracks, 'Hot enough for you today?' I'm going
to strangle him. Damn heat. By the time I get to work, the radiator is
boiling over, my clothes are soaking wet, and I smell like baked cat!!***
*Aug. 9th**Tried to run some errands after work. Wore shorts, and when I sat
on the seats in the car, I thought my ass was on fire. My skin melted to the
seat. I lost 2 layers of flesh and all the hair on the back of my legs and
ass. Now my car smells like burnt hair, fried ass, and baked cat.***
*Aug 10th**The weather report might as well be a damn recording. Hot and
sunny. Hot and sunny. Hot and sunny. It's been too hot to do shit for 2 damn
months and the weatherman says it might really warm up next week. Doesn't it
ever rain in this damn desert? Water rationing will be next, so my $2,300
worth of cactus will just dry up and blow over. Even the cactus can't live
in this damn heat.***
*Aug. 14th**Welcome to HELL! Temperature got to 122 today. Cactus are dead.
Forgot to crack the window and blew the damn windshield out of the car. The
installer came to fix it and said, 'Hot enough for you today?' My sister had
to spend $1,500 to bail me out of jail. F*********g Arizona. What kind of a
sick demented idiot would want to live here??***

My girlfriend lives in Chandler. Really nice areas. The summers are just way too intense. I thought about moving back out there but hanging out for a week in the summer changed my mind. But you can buy some pretty cool guns if your an Arizona resident.

arizona is just like any place else, there is good and bad, we have the shitty hot weather (yeah cali 95 is not hot, try 113 to 120 ;D), but that is what the lakes and rivers are for, the monsoon season is ok, wet and humid, to hell with keeping anything clean, the winter in phoenix is badass, 2hrs you are in snow and cold weather, come back and its shorts and tank tops again. ;D, i don't think i put long pants on at all last year, shorts and t-shirts year round. skip call me ;D...
and i am one of the dumb f**ck**s that is a native that still lives here :screwy:

I lived in Chandler for about 6 mo >:( >:( >:( >:( !!!! The final straw was, one night 11:00 pm (because the news was on) it was 100 deg and raining :mad: :mad: you could see steam coming off the ground !!!

I lose all bladder control everytime I read "Beautiful Arizona"! That is some serious humor....
We had a house in Quartzite on the river, never saw anyone that wasn't either very freindly, or 100 years old. Never lived there though. All I can really tell you is don't pick up any steel tools until after sundown in July. "F" me those get hot!!!!
The wallpaper in the mobile shrunk 4" vertically the first year we had the place. :screwy:

I lived in scottsdale/tempe while attending ASU(#1 ;D) and loved it I can deal with the 3 months of exterme heat its not that bad once you get use to it,I would and am considering moving back to that area east valley chandler,gilbert etc or you can alway come to bullhead ;D

I live in Peoria AZ. I'm northwest Phoenix. If you can deal with the few months of hot weather,you will be fine. The monsoons are awesome. It's cool to watch the storms rush in. The winters here are amazing. It's pretty all around the outskirts of Phoenix. The city is kind of dirty. Their is a bunch of lakes close by. I live about 15 minutes from Lake Pleasant. The job market sucks do to illegals taking all the jobs for little pay. If you already have a job lined up then you should be ok. You go a couple of hours up north and your in the forest. It's not to bad to live here. I just got back from Montana and it's beautiful. I would probably move there in a second if I could. Good luck.

That said, most of my family lives in the Avendale area of PHX and they love it. Right now, you can get real estate pretty cheap out that way and it is rapidly growing. If the job pays, consider it....
I don't think they could pay me enough to go back!!! My San Diego acclimated self can't take it more than a week in the summer....

I moved to Yuma (miss out on the worst of the monsoon weather, only catch the edges of it) from Hel...I mean El Centro Cali so the weather didn't change that much. Yuma gets a better breeze in the late afternoons that e.c. doesn't get. Anyway, I'm never going back to cali. Here are few of the big advantages to living in AZ.
1 you can go get a concealed carry firearm permit and with that you do NOT have a waiting period to purchase any guns. To included silencers and full automatic weapons!!!
2 in PHX, you will be close to Sedona. That place is really beautiful, especially in the winter. A lot of artsy fartsy stuff there too. But great places to camp and a lot of cool native indian caves and such to check out.
3 You'll be closer to the river than you are now. Parker and the lower river are only about 3 hours drive.
4 the 4 months of wicked hot summer are outweighed by the super nice winter weather!!!
5 no smog checks in most smaller counties.
6 housing is cheaper than Cali.
7 gasoline is cheaper than Cali
8 driver's license good for 25 years at a time!!!
The negatives;
1 hotter than hell in the summer (I joke that this is where they send you when you misbehave in hell)
2 snowbirds in the winter (leave a half hour early to allow for snowbird traffic) They tend to drive side by side 35mph in their diesel trucks in 55mph zones lol.
3 state income tax a little higher than Cali. Not really bad, but there is a difference.
4 distance from family (my Dad lives in Hemet Cali, Mom lives in Oregon)

you can live in Phoenix Arizonawhere....
1. You are willing to park 3 blocks away because you found some shade.
2. You've experienced condensation on your butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl.
3. You can drive for 4 hours in one direction and never leave town.
4. You have over 100 recipes for Mexican food.
5. You know that " DRY" heat is comparable to what hits you in the face when you open your oven door.
6. And finally, you realize that the four seasons are: Tolerable, HOT, really HOT, and ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!
